Cheap flights in Thailand
The budget airlines sector (low cost carriers = LCC) in Thailand continues to grow. In 2004, Nok Air and Thai AirAsia started with cheap flights, but today the traveler in Thailand is spoiled with the offer of Lion Air, Thai Smile, Air Asia, Jetstar, Vietjet and NokScoot.
These LCCs serve more than a hundred destinations, both in Thailand and in neighboring countries as far as Japan and India.
Growth of the LCC sector
Thailand Business News reports that growth has accelerated in the last 5 years. This is partly caused by the arrival in 2013 of Thai Lion Air. In addition, Thai Air Asia's route network, already dominant in the LCC sector throughout Southeast Asia, is expanding with more and more flights in and out of Thailand.
The fleet
So, Thailand has 6 low-cost airlines, whose total fleet is 136 aircraft, according to the CAPA Fleet Database. That entire fleet is 45% of all commercial aircraft in Thailand and more than 60% of the narrow-body fleet. The LCC's fleet mainly consists of aircraft from the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 family.
Development
Five years ago, in May 2013, only 42 LCC aircraft were based in Thailand, 28 from Thai AirAsia and 14 from Nok Air. The number of Thai Air Asia has doubled in the last 5 years. A financial interest of Nok Air in Scoot Airlines of Singapore and the growth of Vietjet have also contributed to the expansion of the route network outside Thailand.
Thai Asia X is in the process of re-integrating European destinations into their schedule with their Airbus A330 fleet, which will also boost the growth of local LCCs.
In the last 5 years, the LCC fleet in Thailand has more than tripled, while the total number of commercial aircraft has increased by 50%

Can get in have booked flight Krabi to Don muang Bangkok for the price of 400tb!!!
So clearly show how Thai Air has missed the lot. With a more than failing management. Didn't they have 8 directors?
Thai Airlines has Tai smile right?
Let's hope that offering Low Cost is not at the expense of aircraft maintenance and service. Devices that have been around for many years anyway. I almost have my doubts about it.
Incorrect, almost all low-cost airlines fly with the latest aircraft because they are more economical.
Was recently in a plane from Singapore to Phuket (Airasia)…….old stuff, was not good.
fly 2× a month with airasia return phuket bangkok always fine and certainly not "old stuff". nokair is slightly less and often also more expensive. Recommendation
