Dear editors,

I have been living in Thailand since last year and have a Non Immigrant OA visa (enter before April 5, 2015). After a short holiday in the Netherlands during Christmas, my visa was stamped at Bangkok airport on my last entry with a validity until January 5, 2016 (stamp).

Now I'm going for a short holiday to South Laos next week and will be back "overland" on March 12th. What will happen to the stamping and validity of my visa as a result of this return by land?

Yours faithfully,

Joop

Dear Joop,

When you are in possession of a visa, you will receive the number of days provided for that type of visa. It does not matter whether you enter the country by land or via the airport. This difference is only made if you would enter the country as a Dutch/Belgian on the basis of “Visa Exemption”. In that case it is 30 days via the airport and 15 days by land.

In your case, it does not matter whether you enter Thailand by land or via an airport, as long as you do it before the end of the validity period of your visa, ie before April 5, 2015. Upon entry, you will meet with your Non-immigrant “ OA” Multiple entry visa for another year and that will be somewhere until March 11, 2016.

Tip: Check the new date stamp immediately upon receipt for the correctness of the length of stay, because people sometimes dare to miss it.

Good trip.

Regards,

RonnyLatPhrao
