Home » Visa question » Thailand visa application No. 183/20: 100 000 Dollar COVID-19 insurance
Questioner: Pieterjan
I am currently investigating the possibility of going to Thailand as a tourist in the future. One of the requirements to obtain a visa is an insurance statement that one is covered for Covid-19 up to $ 100000, a statement that is explicitly required.
Neither my Aegon travel insurance nor De Friesland health insurance issue this statement and refer to the policy or “insurance statement abroad” in which Covid-19 is not mentioned.
Yet there will be people who have recently traveled to Thailand. How did they obtain this statement with reference to Covid 19?
Reaction RonnyLatYa
As a tourist, it will be a while before Thailand opens its doors to Europe again, I fear.
I leave the answer to this question to the readers with that experience.
I asked VGZ and they only sent a general English form. I said that next year I will look for another insurance policy.
VGZ universal complete insurance issues Covid statements in English. Got it too and approved for COE. Just send a letter to customer service. Calling 0900 pointless.
I went to Thailand on August 7, had a Non-O visa with an extension based on Thai marriage. For the CoE, the standard English letter from VGZ was sufficient.
silver cross provides a document stating that covid 19 is 100% covered up to the max. of whatever the cost of nursing in the Netherlands. No amount is mentioned and the embassy accepted it. The period of residence is also included.
French,
Is this statement from the Silver Cross accepted for both your visa and COE (certificate of entry)?
Is facing the same challenge and would like to know if this has already been accepted for both applications.
I already had a visa accepted for COE.
Yes, and the airline also accepts that 100.000 USD is not mentioned and upon arrival in Thailand they also accept that the mandatory 100.000 USD is not mentioned. I'm not going to gamble and you can get an insurance statement at various places and that costs a maximum of 3 EURO for 400 months for a 3-month stay if you have a Non Immigrant O visa (or extension of this with re-entry). If you are refused when boarding the plane or you are refused upon arrival in Thailand and you are allowed to return to the plane, it will cost considerably more.
Uncle insurance does that with a letter in English
Uncle is very expensive. It is best to take out insurance in Thailand, with AXA. Cheap and with English statement regarding Covid and the 100.000 dollars. Mail address: [email protected]
Succes
In the list of insurance policies in Thailand provided by the embassy, persons over the age of 75 are not accepted or it must be a follow-up to an insurance policy already taken out. Even special foreign insurance policies for the elderly generally do not accept persons over the age of 75. This age discrimination makes the premium of 400 euros per month with OOM for medical expenses already insured with the health insurance very expensive for me.
On the website of the Thai embassy you will find 12 Thai insurance companies that comply with this insurance against corona.
If you request this from them, you can be sure that you have sound – correct insurance that will be accepted upon your arrival in Thailand.
Just want to ask; whether anyone has experience with applying for the English covid-19 insurance document at Univé health insurer???
In a Facebook group I read that someone did succeed. He wrote about Univé, CZ and VGZ “They don't do it right away for the simple reason most of those who work in the call centers know nothing about it. It took me 4 days to get it.” My advice: first check with your own insurer before you take out expensive additional insurance!
I am now in the CoE procedure myself and I have followed the advice of other readers on Thailandblog. I didn't even bother to contact ONVZ for such an English statement given all the shared experiences with health insurers. Simply take out a separate insurance policy with indeed OOM INSURANCE. It's actually double, but for those few cents I'm not going to stress and nag myself. The insurance was also accepted immediately and without questions or comments from the Thai government. Piece of cake!
As far as I am concerned, the latter applies to the entire process surrounding CeO. Don't be discouraged as it is easier than it looks with a great working Thai government web portal.
Gr.Bert
Does the OOM statement also state how long you are insured and/or did you request the statement for a specific period?
Ger the period is stated. I took out the insurance for 2 months and the premium was €107 in total. I stay max. 7 weeks because of work.
I arrived in Bangkok a few days ago and am now in ASQ. I have no experience with Dutch insurers as I have arrived from another Asian country, but I would like to report that the total amount of $100.000 was really sought on my form. All other information on the form was completely irrelevant to the inspector as long as the paper clearly shows the amount.
The confirmation of the cover is decisive, not the stated amount. The embassy assesses the insurance statement. If it explicitly states that the Covid risk is covered, then this is considered sufficient.
Just call AA Insurance, where you will be helped quickly and efficiently in Dutch. They now have branches in Hua Hin, Pattaya, Bangkok and I thought Phuket. http://www.aainsure.net
I also arranged it there myself, and have not encountered any problems, neither when applying for the COE, nor when arriving in Thailand.
Information for the elderly as I received from AA insurance
Dear Pete,
Thank you for sending the additional information.
All travel insurance policies can only be taken out up to the age of 80.
Health insurance would be possible, but only with a contract duration of 1 year.
There is an insurance product from the Thai government that only covers for Covid and can give you the certificate.
I have included the information in this email.
I think this insurance is the best choice for you.
https://covid19.tgia.org
Yours faithfully,
AA Insurance (better known here as http://www.verzekereninthailand.nl) has all approved Thai companies when it comes to a NON OA and dozens of options for the 100,000 USD / COVID insurance.
It certainly doesn't have to be that expensive so feel free to contact us http://www.aainsure.net.
5 Dutch people and a Fleming work at AA, so it can all be arranged in Dutch.
