Questioner: Rob

I now have Covid visa and I would like a non immigrant B visa to get a workpermit later. Now they ask for 30 to 35 thousand baht. I think that's too much.

Is there a possibility to get a non B immigrant somewhere outside of Thailand? Like in the Philippines or Cambodia, Laos etc.
Which embassy is open and that we can also come back? Not that we're stuck somewhere and can't get back.

Well, the sun rises for nothing, of course…. Although my advice remains free 😉 I don't know what a COVID visa is, but I suspect you mean a 60-day Corona extension?

Otherwise you might be able to do it yourself. You can forget about applying for a Non-B for fun. You will have to provide evidence as to why you need it.

Here's a list of the different options to change and what you'll need.

Abroad all embassies are open I think. To enter that particular country there will also be conditions I suspect and whether they will allow a Non-B in that Thai embassy will also depend on the evidence you can present. But if you want to leave the country, you can also try to apply for it online, just like other visas.

If you do not leave the country, you are useless with this option, because you then have to activate the visa by entering

What is the certainty that you will receive a work permit? There are all kinds of restrictions and even if you meet the requirements, it is not yet certain that the work permit will be awarded.
In 2011, I received a non-B Business multi-entry visa in the Netherlands based on an invitation letter from a Thai company that we were going to investigate a collaboration. Some annual figures and tax receipts from that company had to be submitted. Non BB was therefore ideal for business orientation, but above all it was easy to stay in TH for a while. I have no idea if it is still accepted, but if you have the option, it's worth a try. After my visa expired, I returned to the Netherlands and on the basis of an employment declaration of intent from an employer and of course proof, I again received a non-BB so that a work permit could be applied for. At the time it was true that you had to go to the embassy in the country where you are a citizen. Times change, but who knows.
