Questioner: Jan

I have a question in response to Ronny's detailed answer regarding whether or not COVID cover is available.

Ronny literally said the following in his response yesterday: “It seems that this 100 000 Dollar insurance for the OA visa/extension will become a permanent requirement and also replace the 40 000/400 000 Baht out/in insurance. You will indeed have to present it when applying for both the visa and the extension. Not only must it cover COVID, but also other illnesses or accidents.”

I must apply for my extension before August 25 this year. I always go a month early just to be on the safe side. Since I am in possession of an OA visa, I also had to submit an insurance policy of 40.000/400.000 Baht out/in when applying a year ago.
Ronny uses the word: it "seems" that etc etc.

Can Ronny make another attempt whether or not I need to present a policy of 25/40.000 baht out/in PLUS $400.000 COVID cover when applying for my renewal based on Retirement Visa on July 100.000 this year.
I really hope you post this soon so I know what to do.

Note: can ONLY OA visa holders get infected with COVID?

Repeat here as well.

“It is currently a proposal that was discussed at the cabinet council, apparently has received the approval of the cabinet, but is not (yet) in effect.”

That is to say that people agree with the proposal in principle, but as long as it has not been signed by the PM and subsequently published in the “Royal Gazet”, it is also not applicable.

As for the content:

“It is a matter of waiting for the right content of the text and until they are approved. When?

Immigration and embassy will then come up with the necessary guidelines and more will become clear. Might take a while. As soon as I have more, clear and official information about this, I will post about it on TB. At the moment I will not answer any further questions about this until the correct content/details are known.”

This means that nothing has changed at the moment and everything is still the same as with your previous renewal.

However, I don't have a crystal ball and I don't know what next month will be like…

As long as your immigration office does not receive instructions from the head office, they will not change anything.
