Questioner: Ben

In July 2021 I will get a new job in Pattani. How can I get a Non-B in Thailand?

I have a Non-O visa from Penang, I entered Thailand on February 27, 2020 in Thailand until May 26, 2020. Then I got Covid-19 extension until September 26, 2020. Then extensions from September 26, 2020 to May 17, 2021.

Non-O was for volunteer work in Songkhla province stopped last month, have a work permit until September 2021

Currently you have an extension until May 17, 21 you say. If you received it through your volunteer work, you should normally have reported that you no longer work there since last month. It is not because you have received that extension and the work stops that you can just keep that extension. If the reason for which the extension was granted changes, you must report this. But I suspect that given the extension is about to expire, people won't say anything about it. But you will have to extend it, because you won't start working until July. This is still possible with a Corona extension that you can currently request until the end of May 21. You get 60 days (1900 Baht). Make sure you do this before May 17 or you will be in “overstay”.

Since you stopped working last month, your work permit will no longer apply and you should normally have it cancelled. Your work permit is only valid for the work that was requested with it. It is not the case that you have obtained a work permit, you can work with it everywhere.

Normally you have to apply for a Non-immigrant B outside Thailand, but I suspect that they will now also allow you to transfer your status to B in Thailand. Do you have to ask immigration.

You will have to submit the necessary proof from your employer for this and your employer will also have to do the same for a new work permit.

Employers who employ foreigners normally know what is expected of them.

And of course you can also ask for information about this, given the current Corona time, at immigration regarding your Non-immigrant B visa. They will tell you what is possible and what you must submit.
