Questioner: Joe

My question is about my retirement visa. I've searched the file but I haven't been able to find anything related to my question. At the moment I am in the Netherlands, arrived here on January 29, 2020. I had booked a return flight on April 7, 2020 with EVA Air. This ticket has been canceled by EVA Air due to the current crisis. My NON RE visa must be renewed before May 13, 2020 and my Re-entry is also valid until May 13, 2020.

My question: Is it already known how this case will be handled by the Immigration Service when I arrive in Thailand too late? I live on Koh Chang and immigration office is in Leam Ngob in Trat. I had made an appointment at the consulate of the Dutch embassy to obtain a visa support letter. I would like to hear if anything is already known such as leniency, I keep my canceled ticket.

Thanks in advance, greetings and stay healthy take care of yourself

I have not heard about that, but I am afraid that if you are not in Thailand for the extension of your period of stay, that period of stay will expire on May 13, 20.

They assume that if you ask for a year extension, you will also stay in Thailand. If you leave Thailand for whatever reason, you can do so and that is what the re-entry is for, but that is entirely at your own responsibility and you must ensure that you are back on time.

I understand your concern and that it all happens against your will, but I fear that this will not be taken into account and you will have to start all over again with a Non-immigrant O visa.

I'll keep an eye on it and if I hear anything I'll certainly let you know via TB, but I'm afraid of it.

Regards,
