It is over. The three-day celebration officially ended yesterday. The population movement is starting again, but now in the opposite direction. The ภาษาไทย have said goodbye to family and are on their way back to Bangkok to get back to work today or tomorrow.

Once again it will be very busy on the Thai roads. The SRT converts extra trains travelers from the Northern and Northeastern provinces to Bangkok.

It will be quite a job to get everyone to Bangkok on time. At a bus station in southern Hat Yai, near the Thai-Malaysian border, there were long queues to buy tickets.

It was also crowded in the northern province of Phichit and in the northeastern province of Si Sa Ket. The Thais squeezed into overcrowded trains to Bangkok.

Most dangerous days of the year

April 11 to 18 are the most dangerous days on Thai roads. The days before, during and after Songkran are called the seven deadliest days. Also this year again. To date, there have been 188 fatalities in road accidents. More than 2.700 people were injured. In most cases, there is alcohol abuse.

That's right, it's busy on the road. Yesterday we had to go from Chonburi to Khorat.
From Chonburi to Khorat we drove less than 3 hours.
From Khorat to Chonburi back about 7 hours.
It was a pleasant crowd on the road and we only saw 1 small accident.
Major accidents are also almost impossible because you don't crash so hard at 20 kilometers per hour

Can you say it was busy> From Nong Bua Lam Phu to Khon Kaen and on to Khorat. 5.5 hours over 220 km and then another 60 km to Khorat. Constantly stationary traffic.. It is also annoying because as soon as it comes to a standstill, people enter the hard shoulder and that eventually has to be crammed back into the normal lanes, so it is getting slower and slower. I expected the Thais to leave on Sunday so I left on Saturday. So a nice miscalculation and I went back and now left on Monday and arrived in Huahin without any problems and smoothly.

Monday after Songkran. Nice and calm. On the internet, enjoy the 3 topless ladies on Silom Road (Isn't Silom next to Patpong?) Enjoy driving through our village without getting wet.
My ear infection from all the dirty water is almost over. The abrasions my friend suffered when he was expertly thrown from his moped with 3 buckets of water in his face, are healing nicely.
Took my car to the laundry today to get all the chemicals removed and made the first long drive (without police barricades) to Lotus this afternoon. Fresh bread, spreads, yoghurt etc.
Songkran has almost been forgotten. Worse, it was 39 C today, miss the cooling of the yellow colored ice water from the high pressure sprayers.
Ok, probably Songkran again next year. In the coming days we will pay attention to the Buddhist New Year, but I don't really hear anyone talking about that here in the village.
