I was sent this video with the message that it is in Thailand had played. I don't know if that is really the case. In any case, it is an Asian country. And the video is worth it.

It shows that there are still people who stick up for each other and then you're pretty out of luck if you're a bag snatcher.

Two men on a motorcycle steal a woman's handbag and drive into an alley. Probably a dead end because after a while they come back chased by a mob that has come to the woman's aid. Then a huge mating party ensues. The two thieves initially succeed in using force to keep the crowd at a distance, but they cannot compete against such force majeure. The consequence? See for yourself.
