Rigorous plan falls through

The rigorous plan of some private sector engineers to excavate five roads in eastern Bangkok over a length of 5 to 6 meters has been brushed aside by the government.

The proposal was made to speed up the drainage of water because those roads would block the water flow. But according to Minister Sukampol Suwannathat this is not the case.

The proposal of the municipality of Bangkok to do something similar at the Bangkok-Chon Buri and Bang Na-Trat highway was also rejected by the government. Instead, canals in eastern Bangkok will be dredged to achieve the same effect. Houses that are in the way are removed.

In another place, on the other hand, the knife went in a way. A passage has been dug in the Liap Khlong Rangsit road (Pathum Thani) between khlong 9 and khlong 10 to relieve the local water flow. Prime Minister Yingluck actually managed to convince the residents of Khlong 9 of the necessity, although their neighborhood will be somewhat flooded as a result. She thanked residents for their cooperation, which will help ease pressure on dams and dikes in northern Bangkok.

to excavate over a length of 5 to 6 meters. Shouldn't that be depth instead of length?

no, it's that length in length.

I should have formulated it more clearly: a trench of 5 to 6 meters wide is being dug right through the road. But the party is off. The politicians think they know better than the engineers.
