Dear editors,

My wife has just returned to Belgium after a trip to Thailand, her home country. There is no entry stamp in her Thai travel pass and there is no stamp when leaving Thailand. She used the new e control passage and has no proof in her passport that she was there and came back out.

Is this the new way of working now? Who knows more about this method and what about the Belgian who uses this e passage control together with his Thai wife, the multiple o or any other visa must still be used in the Belgian travel pass?

Yours faithfully,

Geert

Dear Geert,

Don't worry about this. My wife also uses the automatic passport control. If you use this, there will indeed no longer be a stamp in the passport, but the departure/arrival will of course be registered.

By the way, my wife's last stamp was a Departure stamp from last year. After that, she always used the automatic passport control. Easy to use and it's fast. In addition to the automatic passport control, there is also a desk for a classic passport control. So they can still choose.

I have to go through a classic passport control. You still need a stamp. As far as I know, foreigners can't use that automatic (yet). If you are traveling with your wife, you can always use that Thai counter, just next to the automatic one, or simply use the other counters for foreigners.
