Si Thep Historical Park

The Fine Arts Department has asked Eco Orient Resources not to make concrete plans for the search for oil and gas near the 1.700-year-old city of Si Thep in Phetchabun.

The reason for this is that the FAD is in the process of applying for UNESCO World Heritage status for the ancient ruins.

FAD boss Anandha says he only recently learned of the company's plans. Anadha fears that conducting exploratory research into the presence of oil or gas will threaten the unique stupa Khao Khlang Nok and also jeopardize its application to Unesco.

  1. jan si thep says up

It would also be a shame if large-scale oil extraction were to take place in this area. Now mainly agricultural, so a lot of greenery instead of heavy industry.
