Moken are sea gypsies who live in Thailand. The Moken children have the extraordinary ability to override the automatic reflex of the eye underwater. This also allows them to see clearly underwater.
It was always thought that this ability only belonged to the Moken, however recent studies show that any child can learn this trick.

They also occur in Ryanmar, originally it is a sailing nomadic people.
The pearl divers in the Caribbean (Venezuela Isla Margeritha) used to know this trick. Believe that those guys could stay under water for almost 5 to 8 minutes, don't know this about the Moken.
