Thailand is not a boring country (video)
In this new video of almost 20 minutes, made by Ton Kraayenvanger, you see what Thailand has to offer.
Ton Kraayenvanger has made several beautiful films about Myanmar and Sri Lanka, all of which can be found on YouTube. This nice film about Thailand has been added for a few days, in which an extra word for pensioners at the end.
Enjoy the beautiful images and the commentary is also in Dutch.
Video: Thailand is not a boring country
Watch the video here:
Beautiful film you have shown everything very realistically! Thick plume
Very recognizable. Beautiful representation of Thai life. Really a promo for thailand. TRIBUTE
What a beautiful movie you made! Hats off. We ourselves are 23 days through Thailand km from Bangkok to the North and on to the South FANTASTIC, so I enjoyed seeing everything pass by again. Thank you
Fantastic movie. Very nice. Compliments
Very professional and engaging at the same time well done!
What a beautiful movie! Cheers!
One of the most beautiful films about Thailand ever seen. Back there for a while. Awesome !!!
I don't want to be a vinegar whiner, but there are some mistakes in the film, besides the pronunciation of Thai names. I was also not impressed with the narration and the chosen locations, just the touristic sights.
For me certainly not one of the most beautiful films about Thailand.
Yes, the pronunciation of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai could be a bit better, but what mistakes do you mean? I thoroughly enjoyed it and have already watched it three times. Very beautiful images and what is said about current Buddhism is right as a bus, isn't it?
Dear Chris,
When will we see your movie?
This film gave an impression of Thailand in its own way, chapeau!
I don't make movies of my holidays in Thailand, I live here and if I were to make a movie of Thailand, it would certainly show other things of Thailand than just Bangkok, Chiang Mai and some hill tribes.
Furthermore, I would not lower myself to texts such as: "In Thailand, sex is no problem at all" (which is also absolutely incorrect) and "before you know it you will be in bed with a minor Thai" (and that will not be easy to find underage ladies unless you explicitly ask for it). I'd pronounce names better, dig into things a bit more before commenting on them, refrain from making comments about Buddhism and retirees (which are also incorrect), and I'd definitely remember that the Moonbar isn't in the State Tower.
In short, a nice and meritorious film for family and acquaintances, but not a really serious film about Thailand.
Totally agree. I was quite annoyed by this video and therefore couldn't watch out, statements about Buddhism, Spanish (?!) music. Not a promotional video as far as I'm concerned.
After those inaccuracies follows the comment that this is the image but not the reality. Whether the comment is appropriate is a matter of taste. I have the impression that the director wants to let it be known that the stereotypes of pill-swallowing backpackers and puffing old men who hang nonstop at the bar surrounded by pushy (too) young flesh in Phuket, Pattaya or Patpong give a distorted picture of the country.
That the standard route package tour Bangkok, River Kwai, Chiang Mai + trip in the region is then visited? Well, those are the well-known highlights. Not original - the reason I hardly ever watch these films - but they are the must sees for someone who is in the country for a few weeks.
The remark that you have seen them all with 1 temple is incorrect, everyone who has ever visited more than 1 church, mosque, temple or other religious building knows that. But I saw that more as a comment with a wink, that it would be a shame to drag you from temple to temple when there is much more to experience.
That there is some hypocrisy among Buddhists and it really isn't all peaceful, pious meditation is just true. And also that Islam is held to a different standard. Whether such an observation fits in a light, beautiful but standard film about Thailand is again a matter of taste.
And that the elderly are deteriorating and the rest are not. Yes, that's nonsense. But I also saw that as a joke, just like the comment that Rutte should send us on a paid holiday so that we can return to the Netherlands with elation and happiness.
That the video might have undergone an extra round of editorial work because of, for example, the statement or not mentioning that the market by train is really not Bangkok, but a city an hour's drive west of it. Oh yeah. In summary: professional-looking image and editing, contains some mistakes, a light-hearted film with the standard highlights. I don't think it aims to be a really serious film or refreshing mini documentary.
Dear Chris,
Thank you for your enlightening explanation, with which I can partially agree.
What someone films is a personal choice.
But very personally colored comments about sex and the like detract from the very beautifully recorded images.
Very nice movie, enjoyed it.
That's how I see Thailand during my annual hibernation.
Nice video, unfortunately now outdated by Corona.
If people are allowed to travel again, I advise travelers to take much more time per location. I myself have been living in Chiang Mai for 10 years and I am still discovering new and special places in my province alone.
For example, a wedding or a funeral in your village shows the real Thailand.
And even after 18 years of Thailand experiences, I have not even been to most of Thailand.
Very nice video and congratulations in Dutch
Beautiful and no nonsense film from the perspective of the tourist .
Reminds me of my first tour of Thailand over 20 years ago.
I had the same feeling when visiting the hill tribes, a bit embarrassing.
Furthermore, the well-known highlights.
Unfortunately, there are of course people with a negative reaction.
Let's say the best helmsmen.
My compliments.
