Santi-Vina, a 1954 Thai film

Santi-Vina is a newly restored film from 1954. A love drama between three people. It was the first Thai color film with sound and won many awards at a Southeast Asian Film Festival in Tokyo in 1954.
I thought it was a moving and captivating film. Maybe a bit sentimental but strong in the depiction of love and sorrow with a strong woman. First watch the film and then read the accompanying two articles.
The name Santi สันติ means 'Peace' and Vina วีณา means 'Flute' (santi with rising, falling tone and wienaa with long ie and aa and two middle tones)

By the way, nice those old movies, thanks for the tip.
But what about those Thai ladies who still know their traditional place?! Do we already see a strong woman in the early 59s, when the deterioration of Thai culture was already underway? Shame! 😉
But seriously now, clearly a strong woman, but the end of the movie hurt me. In the end she doesn't get what she wants, how happy will life have been for this fictional character?
The subtitles are nice, relying on a combination of listening to Thai and reading English. Softening was omitted in English, such as 'na' at the end of the sentence as softening. Cannot be translated, but without that softening, some sentences would not sound nearly as emotional and understanding.
