If you want something different from a standard hotel, sleeping in a floating bungalow in the Mae Ngad Dam is probably something for you. You will hardly find any Western tourists, but mainly Thai.

Located in Thailand's picturesque Chiang Mai province, the Mountain Float at Mae Taeng is a unique and breathtaking destination for travelers seeking a combination of adventure and relaxation. This special attraction is known for its floating bungalows and huts that sit elegantly on the waters of a tranquil lake, surrounded by the majestic mountains and lush green forests of Northern Thailand.

Visitors to the Mountain Float can enjoy a variety of activities. The most notable is the opportunity to spend the night in one of the floating huts, which offer a unique experience of sleeping on the water. These accommodations range from simple and cozy to more luxurious options, all with the comfort of modern amenities, while still maintaining an authentic and natural environment. The Mountain Float hotel consists of four different villas that you can stay in with your entire group of friends or family. Each villa has its own terrace and of course offers a fantastic view. You can rent a boat to sail on the lake. The hotel also offers a restaurant, a barbecue and even karaoke!

Besides relaxing and enjoying the serene environment, visitors can also participate in various outdoor activities. This includes kayaking on the lake, swimming, walking in the nearby forests, and exploring the local flora and fauna. For the adventurous travelers, there are opportunities for trekking and visiting nearby hill tribes.

The Mountain Float is also a popular destination for those interested in photography, thanks to the breathtaking natural beauty and unique architecture of the floating accommodations. The mornings are especially magical when the mist hangs over the water, creating a mystical and peaceful atmosphere.

The lake is more than an hour's drive north of the city of Chiang Mai.

    OH, seems odd to me.
From Jomtien does anyone know the time by car????
And as an encore the coordinates?
Is this doable with 4 people?
Knowing us, we always have things that we definitely have to buy/take with us.
By car to Koh samui and Puket is our only knowledge.

    Thank you.

    Dear LOUISE,

I've been there twice already but this also seems very nice.
If you are going to drive from Pattaya to Chang Mai by car, it will take about 16 hours
    be in one piece.

I am sure if you go through the mountains before Chang Mai you will be amazed
of the views and will probably take an overnight stay.

Just take three days for this trip by car (every four hundred klm overnight stay)
Other than that I don't have to tell you anything.

    Yours faithfully,

    Erwin

Louise it is 816 km from Pattay to ChangMai and on Google maps you can quite easily find the coordinates and also the exact route of course, and Google Maps says that the driving time will take about 10 hours and 6 minutes, which means an average of 80 km per hour and That seems feasible to me.
