Jim Thompson Farm Tour
Located in the Pak Thong Chai district of Nakhon Ratchissima Province, the Jim Thompson Farm is an increasingly popular destination for agritourism and ecotourism. It is only open to the public for a short period of time in the cool season of the year. This year it was opened at the beginning of December and you have to be quick, you can still go there until January 10, 2016.
In December 2013 there was already a story about the Jim Thompson Farm Tour on this blog, which included:
Everyone knows Jim Thompson, founder of the large firm Thai Silk Company, specializing in Thai silk. To ensure a stable and reliable supply of raw materials, the company decided in 1988 to invest in its own mulberry plantation and a silkworm egg production center in Pak Thong Chai (just south of Korat). The Jim Thompson Farm first opened to the public in 2001 in the cool season, the best time of year to enjoy the scenic landscape. Set against a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills covered in impenetrable thickets of bamboo, the farm features large mulberry plantations, orchards, nurseries and gardens full of colorful flowering and ornamental plants.
The Jim Thompson farm tours provide a unique opportunity for visitors to get up close and personal with the full life cycle of the silkworms and follow the silk breeding process. Other highlights on the 721 rai (280 ha) estate include the vegetable garden and ornamental plant nursery. A wide variety of delicious fresh fruit and organically grown vegetables, (cut) flowers are for sale in the Isaan Village. Of course there is also an interesting range of traditional, hand-woven silk material from the Jim Thompson factory for sale
The inner man is certainly not forgotten. A wide range of Thai and the tempting Isaan food is offered, which you can enjoy in the open air with a beautiful view over the mulberry plantations”
In a recent article in The Nation, a spokesman for the Jim Thompson Farm says, “It is now the 17th time the farm has opened and interest continues to grow. Last year we had an increase from 90.000 visitors to 160.000 people and this year the number will probably increase further.”
To what extent the publication on thailandblog.nl has contributed to this increase is of course impossible to determine, but it is certain that many Dutch and Belgians have already made the Jim Thompson Farm Tour.

Indeed, very beautiful. Been there with my girlfriend who lives in Pak Thong Chai and her 2 daughters work at Jim Thompson farm. The falang pays the same amount as a Thai for the entrance, namely 140 bath, which is a nice price. You can visit all the sights with a kind of bus and you can go anywhere
Get in/out. You don't expect something like that between the rice fields. So recommended if you are in the area.
721rai is not 280Ha, but not even half, approx. 120 Ha
Indeed 120
Today the Silk festival started in Pakthongchai and lasts 7 days!
Pakthongchai is located around 30 km in the south of Nakhonratchasima.
And now I'm going there...
