Full Moon Party 2012 on Koh Pha Ngan

The Full Moon Party takes place on the beach of Haad Rin, a peninsula located south of Koh Pha Ngan. The two main beaches are Sunset Beach (Haad Rin Nai) to the south and the larger Sunrise Beach (Haad Rin Nok) to the north. Sunrise Beach is the scene of the Full Moon Party every month, when the beach turns into a motley crowd of unhinged partygoers.

The town and beach became popular when backpackers wanted to escape the more touristy Koh Samui from the 1980s. Due to the Full Moon Party, the popularity of the beach has increased enormously. Haad Rin is centered around Chicken Corner, a crossroads and popular meeting place.
