The consequences of a holiday adventure in Thailand
In Thailand there are quite a few “Luk khrueng” (half-children) whose mothers work or have worked in the sex industry in one of Thailand's places of entertainment. The father is usually a foreigner who was in Thailand for a vacation. Some "holiday dads" just go back home without knowing they've fathered a child, and others do know, but simply abandon the mother.
Last Monday, during a conversation with a teacher at the school where my child is studying, that teacher made a rather bold remark: “You are a child of mixed parents and your father is a foreigner. Because of this you can NEVER be admitted for a career with the state (Army, Police, Minister, etc.).”
