Durian scores: Foreign sales grow by 40% per year
Thailand wants to promote the durian as the most important fruit for export. The typical fruit with the pungent smell is a big hit in China and cannot be beaten there.
Sales of four fruits, including durian, have reached an all-time high this year with sales of more than 7,4 billion baht. Turnover increased mainly due to the high demand from China.
Farmers in the south want first class durian
More and more farmers in Yala are joining a project to improve the quality of the durian. There are now 843 farmers in the three southern provinces participating. There are a total of 24.216 durian trees.
Durian auction raises 2,05 million baht for charity
The smell of the durian (durian) is rather pungent, but the taste is excellent and many people are willing to pay 300.000 baht for it.
