The health ministry today reports a new record of 31 coronavirus deaths and 2.041 new infections in the past 24 hours. The third wave is mainly attributed to the more contagious B.1.1.7 variant, first discovered in Britain and responsible for more than half of all infections and deaths since the start of the pandemic in Thailand.
