In 1994, HRH Princess Sirindhorn planted the first mangrove here. Much needed, because contaminated waste water in combination with silt formation had seriously affected the coast at the Rama 6 army base in Cha Am. And now come and see: mangroves, the nurseries of the sea, are growing like never before.

Actually it is not allowed, but like so much in Thailand it is possible: a flight with a police helicopter above the coast of Cha Am. What looks like a beautiful tropical plain on the ground, looks most like a lunar landscape from the air, a cheese with holes. The title airplane was completely appropriate here.
