Bizarre image (Khru Kai Kaeo) at a hotel in Bangkok causes controversy and fear among residents
In Bangkok, the giant statue of Khru Kai Kaeo is under discussion. Placed in the grounds of The Bazaar Hotel, this diabolical sculpture evokes mixed reactions. While some visit the statue for blessings and offerings, others experience fear and anxiety from its presence. Civic groups and artists have taken action, both out of religious considerations and out of concern for the welfare of animals, which are seen as sacrifices in a growing trend.
Drawn from lottery
Really thought it for a moment; Joseph, you are a lottery ticket. What stupidity had I pulled again? I'm going to make that clear at the end of the story, but where does that phrase actually come from?
Reader question: I am looking for a figurine of a Thai woman with a Wai
I am looking for a nice figurine of wood, stone or plastic, 30 to 40 cm high, of a smiling Thai woman who greets you with a “wai”. May be silver plated or polychrome.
Many souvenir shops sell those wooden Sawadee statues, these are ladies standing or sitting with their hands in the greeting or welcome position. There is also a male version of this but I can't find it anywhere. I'm looking for the seated version of about 50 cm high.
