Question to general practitioner Maarten: Can I wait to have a basal carcinoma removed?

I've had a wound above my ankle on the inside of my leg for a long time that eventually closed, but still doesn't look 'normal' now. I'm afraid it's a basal carcinoma. It is now 8 mm in diameter and it is (I thought) growing slowly. A dermatologist immediately wanted to cut it out and examine it, which makes sense. However, I am going back to the Netherlands in a month and would rather have it treated there.
