Hua Hin has evolved over the years from a sleepy fishing village to a popular beach destination. Despite tourism, the city has retained its authenticity.
For beach lovers, Hua Hin has a lot to offer. You will find white sand and the clear blue sea, but also inland you will be surprised by a wonderful mix of nature and culture.
It is especially the relaxed atmosphere that characterizes Hua Hin. Yet some action is within easy reach, there is a range of water sports available, there are eight golf courses nearby and when the sun goes down there are plenty of bars, pubs and local discos offering drinks and entertainment.
Restaurants are also plentiful, offering a variety of dishes – from traditional Thai to international cuisine. Combining a pristine coastline flanked by a charming town that offers many interesting attractions, it's no wonder Hua Hin has become a favorite with couples and families in particular.
Thailand blog reader and videographer Arnold sent in this video from Hua Hin beach taken in March 2020, just before Thailand closed its borders due to the pandemic.

Ten years ago I was in Hua Hin for a few days and of course also on the beach. Then I was attacked by multiple sand fleas within minutes and got back off the beach within ten minutes. It left me with an inflammation on my arm, which continued to itch for months. Since then I have a negative image of Hua Hin beach. Are those sand fleas still present or are they not too bad?
Been coming here for many years, never had a problem.
Yes indeed, was there in May XNUMX and have been bitten by it several times.
A Thai remedy, coconut oil, has finally helped me.
Have been coming to Hua Hin for years in a row and after years have found my niche there.
Cosiness, good food and nice beaches. Never had problems with beach fleas.
Hope to return to Hua Hin next year, but heard my favorite Tiger Bar is closed.
Where many people came to play pool and chat and of course have a drink.
Tiger bar has been taken over I hear.
We have also been going to Hua Hin for years, never had any problems with those beach fleas.
We were also there in March last year and then flew back to Brussels on March 31 with the last Thai airways flight. a week earlier than planned. I look forward to going back to Thailand but without the quarantine rule. I don't think that's anything for this year, we hope for 2022.
I heard something somewhere that Dirk from the Tiger Bar has opened a new Bar on a
Sand fleas are a seasonal phenomenon. Beaches that are maintained daily also suffer much less from these creeps. They mainly live in organic and vegetable waste.
The only thing that helps against these fleas is coconut oil. Is not very comfortable to have on you in combination with sand…is quite sticky. Usually you are bitten in the lower legs as these fleas cannot fly but can jump far.
We have been coming to Hua Hin in March for 10 years in a row to play golf and go out in the evening for 3 weeks. Never had sand fleas.
It is annoying that the sunbeds and the beach service have been closed on Wednesdays for several years. The government has determined that the beach must be cleaned on that day.
