As is customary every year, there is a flower and plant exhibition in the park during and before and after the King's birthday.

No, the title is not a clerical error but has simply been changed in view of the new extended opening at the end of 2011, more specifically on November 9 for 99 days until February 15, 2012.

And then it goes back to “The Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2011” with the emphasis on the 84th birthday of the king the 80th from “Queen Sirikit' and the 60th of the crown prince.

Like last year, the exhibition is not structured with a theme evening every day. There is, however, an “Agria Exhibition” with an emphasis on agriculture and energy consumption, such as the production of biofuel.

Work is in full swing on the infrastructure and new exhibition spaces. There will also be a new entrance with counters. Attached photos give an impression of this year.

I was here (Royal Park Rajapruek) last week, it all looks neat, although it was a bit less impressive than it first appeared. The Netherlands is well represented with a considerable display of flowers. When you walk around here you wonder why Thais seem to be so crazy about our Keukenhof because this was at least as nice/beautiful although there were few flowers after all.

The most eye-catching (and by far the largest) part is the Thai temple, although I was a bit disappointed because it is not a real temple. There is also a train that runs through the park, but that is not really worth the 20 baht because the entire area can easily be viewed on foot.

Small addition: this park does have farang rates, if I remember correctly 50 baht for Thai and 100 baht for farang.
