Renovation of the Bali Hai harbour

Perhaps some have noticed that it is becoming much busier with (speed) boat owners at Pattaya Beach. Some form of civil disobedience after being driven from this coast?

The local government has now requested that Bali Hai port be abandoned and returned to its former coastal location. The large open space at the harbor may also no longer be used for parking the many buses and cars. Everything is closed and tourists can no longer use the boats to go to Koh Larn. This will therefore have to be done on the Beach Road. An operation that will have a huge impact on the rest of Pattaya.

At the beginning of July, the grand approach to the Bali Harbor and surroundings will be started. The municipal council through Popanan does not make a statement about the duration. Apparently made wise by the ruling about the tunnel construction on the Sukhumvit Road, which is also still not open.

Employees of diving schools are not very pleased with this measure, because they cannot get close to the coast with their larger boats and diving equipment. A solution has not been found quickly either. Filling and transporting oxygen cylinders is an undertaking in itself. Nobody is very pleased with this “yo-yo” with companies. A few months ago everyone had to leave the Beach Road and now that is being temporarily reversed.

Why suddenly a major renovation of this dilapidated pier? The pier is being prepared for the “Asean International Fleet Reviews 2017”. A 50th anniversary to commemorate the cooperation of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) which will be celebrated at Pattaya Harbor and Beach. In addition, there will be a military fleet parade from November 13 to 22 in which 40 naval ships from the “ASEAN” states will participate. This requires a well-equipped port, for which the Bali Hai pier has been selected and is being extensively renovated.

More than 26 building contractors have been called in to complete this major job and to get it done on time. An additional advantage is that the major nuisance caused by rats will be drastically reduced.

Well, now most of the boats are with accompanying highly polluting diesel tractors and total
unsafe old wooden drawbars without turn signals, brake lights and securing the trailer
the towing vehicle is located mostly in Jomtien.
They are dangerous on the road and very polluting. I just drove behind a pickup on soi chayaprug.
The cargo box was packed with large plastic bottles (approx. 40L each?).
We smelled that it was full of gas, and this pickup bumped into the yard of a boat shed.
It was 16.30:XNUMX PM, so busy. IS could carry out a major attack with this.
Scandalous! and nobody does anything about it, just like all those idling diesel buses,
the street dogs, the stench of the garbage containers at the Jomtien Beach, etc.
Very unfortunate this development; the chinese will keep coming, because they don't know anything (yet).
different but the other tourists ……?

Like the speedboats, the rats will also move. Doesn't bode well for the area around the pier to be renovated. Unless the opportunity is taken to fight the rat plague. Where to park the numerous buses will be a puzzle in itself. Especially if festivals will be held during the renovation. The chaos on Pattaya Beachroad will only get worse for now. But yes, progress has a price to pay and hopefully the renewed pier will become an attraction.
