Hua Hin, about 200 kilometers southwest of Bangkok, is an excellent alternative to Pattaya, for example. It is less hectic and busy. Hua Hin is also an excellent family destination. It beach slopes gently into the sea, so less dangerous for children.
Hua Hin was once the first resort town Thailand and is located on the Gulf of Thailand. The royal family has a palace there and enjoyed staying in Hua Hin. The city was already the destination for Royalty and 'high society' in Thailand 80 years ago. Even today, Hua Hin still has the charm of a fashionable coastal destination.
Some highlights of Hua Hin:
- Close to Bangkok and easily accessible by car, bus or train.
- By train is fine, get off at the historic Hua Hin train station.
- The city has its own atmosphere, which you will not easily find elsewhere in Thailand, this is perhaps due to its royal connections.
- Golf enthusiast? There are many world-class golf courses, all within 30 minutes of the center of Hua Hin.
- Hua Hin has an abundance of Spa and massage parlors, from five-star wellness resorts to a simple massage on the beach.
- Do you love fish and seafood? Hua Hin has numerous seafood restaurants and is considered by many to be the best in Thailand. This makes Hua Hin a world-class seafood destination.
- Hua Hin has a great nightlife with different music styles.
- Have a drink at the Railway's Satchmo Club Hotel (now Sofitel Centara). You feel like you are in a bygone era, this special and colonial environment is a special experience. The Railway Hotel was the first resort in Thailand and has been completely restored and returned to its original 20s state.
