Big “cleaning” in the city of Pattaya
The fact that things are serious nowadays with the new city council in Pattaya is evident from the rigorous approach of the various "tolerance areas" from the past.
The announcement to evacuate the Bali Hai area was viewed with some skepticism. The number of jet ski entrepreneurs has been drastically reduced. Entire "structures" next to the famous disco Mexx have been knocked down.
The end is not yet in sight. Many public places on Beach Road and Soi's such as Soi 13/2 have been seized by moped rental companies. They too have been told to continue their trade elsewhere and to stop using these public places clandestinely.
Another theme that was discussed at the Pattaya Business & Tourism Association (PBTA) in consultation with the municipality representatives and the Governor of Chonburi was the demolition of illegal resorts and the control of the hotels. Pattaya has about 2600 hotels, but many of them are not registered. Both the resorts and the hotels can expect a visit. The hotels will be examined for their structural condition and safety. In addition, the required papers are checked.
Engineer Anawat, who works at the City Hall, stated, if desired, that this approach would take some time before everything would be completed.
Well, on Monday jomtien complex (soi 1) was stripped of many Cambodian company? guys. It was like an empty lot. But necessary. Hopefully the police and military will keep this up.
That Bali Hai pier, isn't that the pier from which the new ferry service would depart?
And what do they do with all that construction waste? Isn't that a huge waste of resources?
As far as I'm concerned: much too late and much too drastic! I think there are other ways of punishing these illegal practices. The simplest: seizure! Period – amen – out!
Take those resorts: very beautiful! Are they going to break it down completely? Just let it exist and just let the tourists come, but then make sure that those proceeds end up in the state treasury, hoping that those proceeds will be used usefully again, such as e.g. for financial support for farmers in Isaan. Gone useless waste! And make sure there are no new (illegal) resorts.
But Thai will of course think otherwise. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks that way.
A few years ago, the Pattaya government started closing some hotels.
Sometimes you can see these hotels whose walls have big holes on all sides of such a building.
Simple, fast, cheap and efficient made unusable.
Were definitely finger exercises for what's to come next?
Public space occupied by motorbike rental companies is of course not only located in Pattaya and also applies to car rental companies, taxis and tuktuks. Can only applaud that this is being put to a limit. And with regard to Daniel's reaction to the demolition of clandestine resorts, I would like to point out that these resorts are also located in natural parks and disturb the ecological balance there. Letting it stand implies that the attack on nature by the relentless stream of tourists will continue.
They have also now stripped a hotel of its swimming pool right by the sea in the end of Pratumnak soi 5 … ..sledge hammers first, bulldozer is going to finish work, hotel owner has decided to close the entire hotel, all staff have been told customers have been refunded, this was found on news site Thaivisa.com…. hotel name was something with “Gold” in , full name eludes me at the moment
Wouldn't surprise me if that skyscraper condo building on Budha Hill that has been shut down due to building violations (additional number of floors, and partly on official land ...) is also demolished as an example ...... Would impress the construction mafia to get a little more comply with legal standards ..!!
In Na Jomtien also on the beach several restaurants closed with bulldozers ...... they mean it exactly ..!
