- Rob V: I would almost think that almost all Western authors who write a novel with Thailand as a setting all have the same plot
- Rudolf: Quote: What are the current estimated costs of building a house per m². That just depends on what kind of requirements you meet
- Johnny B.G: In the 50s-80s/90s, Dutch regularly grown food also contained poison and yet there are 20% elderly people in the Netherlands and in TH that is also the case.

Renovated connecting road in Pattaya East
In Pattaya east (the darkside) a connecting road has been renovated in a fantastic way, the Soi 9. This road connects the Soi Nongkraborg (no. 89) with the Nern Plawaan Rd. (no.53) and halfway to the Wat Kao Sao Thong with the Khao Talo, where the famous Dutch restaurant Pepper and Salt van Eddy is located.
With this road, the Thais show how they can also renovate a road in a good way. In the first place, the road is equipped with good drainage grates. These are actually well placed in the road surface in a straight line on the sides of the road. So no unexpected height differences of the pits or left or right spread over the road surface.
Despite the sloping agricultural area, they succeeded in keeping the road almost horizontal. In the first part you have the feeling of driving over a dike, further on the land protrudes a meter above the road. Modern street lighting completes the whole in a beautiful way.
The entire eastern part of Pattaya has been drastically tackled lately. It is not to be hoped that the city will move in this direction. Now it is still very quiet and relaxed living in this area, yet only 15 minutes from the sea and city. I would (selfishly of course!) like to keep it that way.
But it is again concrete without side edges. So crumbles in a few years and full of cracks and holes, especially at the water drainage grilles. Thailand still remains a civil engineering problem and they still don't get it. Edge reinforcement and pitch on it please and natural water collection on the sides and not on the road. And some thresholds to reduce the speed.
Maybe that will come. Opened since yesterday Dec. 29, presumably to relieve the Sukhumvit and the roads along the railway line for the busy New Year's Eve.
A beautiful race track with very nice lighting in the evening / at night.
As a resident of Naklua, I naturally disagree with your last paragraph. It would be very good for traffic in downtown Pattaya if large supermarkets also built a branch in the Darkside.
Large crowd pullers (busses) like Alcazar, Tiffany's and a few more could well move to the east of Pattaya, just like Alangkarn once did.
Sorry Gringo, but that won't happen anytime soon. Now see the huge Terminal 21 that is being built on the Pattaya Nua!
Come this way to live, drink is ready!
really nice road
Martin, I don't think you've eaten butter from road construction,
border edges are not necessary and promote stagnant water
what is important and you do not see that of course is the solid reinforcement in steel in this road
I do not see any water collection ditches so that the water usually runs into the nearby ground
in Thailand that is also good for maintaining the water level in the ground
A race track, they fly around you with more than 100 km. It looks like TT ASSEN. I do
that old road back again, bumps and holes no more than 40 km,
Dear Wilco,
Don't drive there!
So far (2 days) as a nearby resident and road user not noticed anything.
This is the first time that I read that in order to keep a road horizontal, it is constructed partly as a dike and partly as a trench in the landscape. I can't imagine what advantages this offers compared to bridging the difference in height of a few meters.
The road is beautiful especially at night. It took a long time but here he is finally.
We live right in the middle of the road, but here I come again with my negative thoughts.
How long will it take for one or more people to die. The road certainly looks like a runway or part of an F1 circuit in the evening light.
I think the intention is to rush over it at 50 km, but not at 120 km per hour, which is certainly exceeded by some young people several times a day.
It goes wrong !!!! That is also the position of Hans Schnitzel, who has a successful restaurant next to our Baan.
I don't know how long it will take before the municipality also realizes this, but one thing is certain…..TOO LATE.
Best regards.
Fred R .
I forget to tell you that in the evening several dogs ( dozens ) cross the road zigzagging.
It's that I don't drive faster with my bike than 50 and that's why I can still write this. I wouldn't have been here anymore with all the consequences if I had driven there at over 100 km per hour, just like the young people.
THE ROAD IS LIFELY DANGEROUS!!!!
I live between the beach road and the second road, as far as I'm concerned, even more can move to the dark side …… relieving both roads a bit can't hurt.
