In this video you see images from the province of Chiang Rai that should give you an impression of the beauty of this northern region.
Chiang Rai not only has an illustrious history that is best known for the opium trade in the famous Golden Triangle, but it is also a relaxed city, surrounded by a mountain landscape and an impenetrable tropical jungle.
Take a boat trip on the Mekong, meet the Karen people and let yourself be driven past impressive temples in a rickshaw. The infrastructure has been greatly improved in recent years, making the region easier to reach. The city of Chiang Rai is a good base for adventurers. You can go rafting in the area and make special hiking trips. Many local tour companies organize overnight stays in the villages of the hill tribes.
