Many shops and restaurants have a free booklet with information about Pattaya. This booklet “The Pattaya Guide” provides a wide range and overview of what is possible in Pattaya.

It is an informative booklet in the broadest sense of the word. For example, the page with “Useful Numbers” for the police, fire brigade, hospitals and transport is useful. On the next page, the booklet will return to the hospitals in more detail. The page is almost touching, where a few Thai sentences and counting words are taught. The types of visas are also briefly touched upon. There is also a monthly overview of what to do in Pattaya. Not only in terms of bars and discos, but also where you can play tennis, golf and not to forget visiting islands.

A short description is given about Koh Larn and Koh Chang. A simple map is shown at the back of the booklet. There are a number of “traffic rules” listed in the issue, which are worth mentioning because of everyday practice. And to warn people what can sometimes happen.

Below is a brief summary of practical examples. At some traffic lights, which are red, you are allowed to turn left, at others you are not. At the honking behind you, one is apparently allowed to turn left here. Sometimes a vehicle without lights will come at you on the wrong side of the road. Probably a foreigner, who is not used to driving on the left, according to the book. Watch out for moped riders riding on the sidewalk. Baht vans can stop and drive away unchecked anywhere, paying no attention to others except for potential customers. Watch out for cars that still try to cross the intersection before the light turns red! And in Pattaya, a zebra crossing has been installed as a decoration.

There are more notes about traffic in the booklet. It remains a nice handy book to leaf through and sometimes one encounters surprising subjects. A new copy is published every month.

Such a megalomaniac burger on the cover doesn't really score with me, but hey, it's free so sometimes you have to put up with something.
Learning the counting words may be touching, I recommend it to everyone. If a motorbike taxi asks sixty Baht for a ride to Soi thirteen, chances are that a ride to Soi sib saam will cost no more than forty, while it is exactly the same distance.

Is indeed a handy booklet that I like to give to my tenants or to put in the condo. The map in the back in particular has been updated and is now very up-to-date.

The article ends with “A new copy is published every month.”
      So there will certainly be…
      You can find them everywhere.

They don't really update it every month on the website, but you can already read the March issue in its entirety for orientation.
Most of it is - of course - advertising, but it's a shame if you see something too late, so start with the anticipation.
