Every year, already for the 21st time, the PTT Pattaya Open, WTA Tour Tennis (ladies) is held at the beginning of February.

The locations is the beautiful accommodation of the Dusit Thani hotels, located opposite roundabout of Pattaya 2nd road. I myself have been there for 3 years in a row. And I was able to see a number of top women's tennis players up close and of course see them play, such as Zvonareva, Ivanovic and Hantuchova.

What I miss, except for a few, are the Dutch spectators. Strange, because I don't think anywhere else in the world the prices for attending this kind of competition are so low! Prices range from 300, 500, 800 to 1.200 Baht. You can see the ladies at work from every seat because of the arrangement of the stands close to the court.

Therefore a missed opportunity, if you decide not to go here. The $220.000 PTT PATTAYA OPEN is one of the longest running tournaments of the WTA tour. Two years ago it was voted by the tennis ladies as the most enjoyable tournament of the WTA tour.

The tournament will be held this year from 5 to 12 February 2012. Matches start at 15.00 p.m., but it is certainly worth checking out the training sessions of the ladies in the morning, entrance is free.

On February 5 and 6 there will be the qualifying games and from the 7th the seeded players will be discussed. The highest ranked player again this year is Vera Zvonareva, the current No. 7 in the world, who would like to regain the title lost in 2011. Also participating is last year's winner Daniela Hantuchova from the Slovak Republic. And her compatriot Dominika Cibulkova, (no. 17 in the world ranking) and also winner of the 2011 tournament in Moscow. In addition, the beautiful Russian Maria Kirilenko and the crowd pleaser, the Thai Tamarine Tanasugarn, who always fights hard and even reached the final in 2010.

In addition to the many other more or less well-known players, the up-and-coming talent from the United Kingdom, the young Heather Watson, should certainly not go unmentioned.

In short, it is worth checking out. For further information I would like to refer you to the website: www.pentanglepromotions.com

  1. l.low size says up

What struck me most about tennis in recent years was the accessibility and openness of the tennis players and organizers.
Tickets can sometimes be purchased until just before the match.
Parking the car in the beautiful parking lot is often no problem.
In short, a must for anyone who wants to see something good in Pattaya!

    Sincerely,

    Lodewijk
