The colorful Talad Rot Fai in Bangkok

Following an earlier story on Thailand, I went to the Talad Rot Fai gone. Always nice to look up something completely unknown.

The market is located far outside the city, but that also has a certain charm because you come to a neighborhood that is less known. In order not to let any grass grow over it, I decide to pay a quick visit to this market. Who knows, I may even come home with a beautiful gem.

The way there

Take the skytrain towards Bearing and get off at the Udom Suk stop. According to certain descriptions on the internet, you can go to the market from there with a red Songkaew. Well, that means of transport was nowhere to be seen for me, so just with a taxi that brought me there flawlessly. Reading the taximeter, the distance from Udom Suk to the entrance of the market is exactly 7.1 kilometers. Duration 29 minutes and the fare 80 baht.

Been a bit stupid

As a not inexperienced traveler I made a mistake and didn't look further than my nose. It seemed like a nice way to spend the day but came home from a rude awakening; but more on that later. The entrance is at soi 51 along Srinakharin Road near Seacon Square, a busy street that has little to do with a square. If you walk into said soi 51 you will see all kinds of small shops, restaurants and bars. Unfortunately, around two o'clock in the afternoon, everything was still hermetically closed except for one branch of the trade. The dog shops.

Keffertjes

We have been able to read it more often on the blog “Good example leads to good follow”, so in no time a whole bunch of pet shops with mainly small yeps whose unparliamentary nickname on this blog I dare not mention.

Apparently the Thai cherish those yeps and some kind of poodles like little children.

Beauty salon

I enter one of the best equipped beauty salons for that little kid. Can I take a photo? “No problem sir.” Shave and cut, trim mustache and be 'washed' neatly in the bath with a fragrant shampoo. Then dry and brush to infinity again. The poodle-like dogs in particular often look laughable after the treatment. Almost shaved bald but on the head a lush head of hair with a bow. After the treatment of her idol, Madam can proudly show herself again on the street or in her circle of acquaintances with a disheveled mutt.

The shops cover a length of about 200 meters and the real market begins at the end of the gallery. I have absolutely nothing to say about that because Joseph was a bit stupid and hadn't made sure about the opening times. So you definitely don't have to go there before 18.00 p.m. Perhaps someone will come back to share his or her experiences with the readership of Thailandblog. Given the immense surface, there must be a lot to see and you might catch your eye on something very special for next to nothing. And if I have understood it all correctly, walking around Talad Rot Fai is a lot easier than that other big market: Chatuchak.
