On 26 October, Dutch investor ECC festively opened its most recent project, Promenada Resort Mall in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Promenada Resort Mall is Thailand's first shopping paradise with the allure of a holiday resort. The festive activities were attended by, among others, Her Royal Highness Princess Dr. Chao Duengduen Na Chiangmai. Many investors from the Netherlands had also come to attend the opening of the shopping centre.

One of the festive highlights of the day was the final of Elite Model Look Thailand 2013, part of the world's most prestigious model pageant.

Tjeert Kwant, CEO of ECC: “Since the informal opening in June, we have already welcomed more than 1,3 million visitors and received a lot of positive reactions. Promenada offers a fantastic mix of local and national Thai brands and renowned international brands. This fact, together with Promenada's completely unique combination of indoor and outdoor spaces, ensures that the shopping center has the atmosphere and appearance of a luxury holiday resort.”

The 92.800 m2 shopping mall was built in Chiang Mai, a fast-growing region in northern Thailand. Science, tourism, distribution, software and product development are important growth sectors in this region.

The Thai government wants to develop Chiang Mai, with its international airport and good infrastructure, into the economic engine for the north.

Is now in chiang mai center where almost all tourists stay. Wanted to take a look there. Will cost you from the center +- 400thb ret. in taxi costs. Shopping mall is not even on the city map, so it is a long way outside the city.

We were there this morning, very nice concept, lots of space, finally a different kind of Shopping than all the shops next to each other in long corridors! Good food court with local but certainly also western food!
And don't forget the Rimping Super Market also in style with fresh products and very friendly staff!! 9,5/10 for the whole!!

In accordance with good Thai practice, this shopping center opened almost a year later than planned. There have been posts on this blog about this in 2011 and 2012.

The video is impressive and I hope that it will also be a success for the Dutch investors!

It would be nice if people who live or stay in Chiang mai take a look and write a story about it for us.

Hi, nice to see again in Feb. There must be some nice shops. The shopping center was supposed to be opened in December 2012. So it has become a bit later, but it doesn't matter again something to visit when we spend the winter in changmai.Look at it already I wonder if there is also a large supermarket, but there will be.

I have been there twice now, first after the opening, work was still in full swing and many shops were not open, but I also went especially for the Rimping supermarket. The second time last week the shops are now open, but due to the large spaciousness within the building it is not clear, the only one that turned out big was Den Chai computer, camera and TV. Many coffee stalls with the well-known Thai coffee brands, it felt boring, also due to the lack of cozy seats, there were few people. It was a big disaster to lose your motorcycle and have to drive around the building three times. The taxi price from the center is 150 bath there and the same back, this is a fixed price within Chiang Mai. Won't go there a third time.

    Another fun movie to watch.
A Dutch investor opens a shopping mall in Chiangmai.
Nothing wrong with that, Dutch positive entrepreneurship in distant countries.
But what annoys me is that I and I think many of our Dutch people who live here in the immediate vicinity of Chiangmai have not been informed about this.
Oh yes at the Dutch embassy they will not have missed it .
Where is their news letter , I haven't seen it for a long time .
I hope that this shopping mall will be a success, unlike the Dutch consulate in Chiangmai.
Unfortunately, this one went down after about a year.
Question from JANTJE is where can I find this shopping mall in Chiangmai.
I am therefore very curious to be able to visit this Dutch project with my wife.
Maybe as early as this week on the chopper.
Whether I will buy something there remains to be seen , but I read that there is also a Rimping market and that is interesting for me .

    Greetings Jantje.

Dear Bert, stupid of driving around the mall three times, there are car parking spaces and motorcycle parking spaces under the shopping, you can go up from there with the escalator, it's strange that some people make such comments!
The whole is located 10 minutes from the city, ps also nice to visit in the area is the beautiful park,,,

I don't know if this is of any use to you in terms of transport, but maybe the shuttle bus is something.
