Dear Thailand blog reader,

I have been looking for a beautiful healthy parrot for months. Been to Bangkok but see many sick animals there. Plus all the animal suffering I had to endure. Hence my call on the blog.

If anyone knows a good and reliable point of sale in Thailand? Or that someone wants to sell their own parrot?
May there be several, if they are together as a couple.

You can email me below [email protected]

I live in Udon Thani

Sincerely,

Pieter

Sorry to tell you but all those sick parrots are there because people are looking for them like they are now.

      Hello Eddy,

Then I wouldn't be able to buy any animal anymore, because everything is for sale in the world.

I am strongly against animal abuse, that's why I didn't buy anything there'

My stomach turned when I saw all those poor animals there in a hot market!

Have many animals, such as various kinds of birds and fish and 3 dogs.

They have a very good life with me!!

So too', the parrot I want to buy, to give the animal a pleasant and dignified life.

And yes, it is very unfortunate that there are others who have no reason for an animal.

There needs to be a lot more supervision!

I also see enough suffering, in an average market, where the frogs are connected to each other, etc.

My animals, have come from hell to heaven.

And they have a wonderful life with me'

I wish there were more people with good intentions for those poor animals'

      Regards Peter,

Leave the animals where they belong.
        That is, in the wild.

Both humans and animals would benefit from it.

For years, parrots and parakeets have been caught en masse in their countries of origin for the legal international bird trade.
Most of the captured birds did not survive capture and transport. In addition, all kinds of infectious diseases have been spread through these imports/trade. Thanks to this trade, there was also the risk to humans from the spread of parrot disease.
Partly due to this trade, countless species in nature are threatened in their survival. By cutting down or damaging nest trees to rob the young birds from the nests, a lot of nesting opportunities have been lost. The loss of nest trees is a disaster for the survival of nature.
There are now more parrots and parakeets in captivity than there are in the countries of origin flying around in the wild.
Many parrots and parakeets are bred in captivity.
Parrots and parakeets are victims of ignorance. Bird owners are generally ill-informed about the requirements the birds have for feeding, housing and care. Moreover, owners do not have the expertise to respond to behaviour.
Hopefully traders, pet shops and breeders will have more expertise in the future to be able to properly inform owners and buyers of birds and to refer them to specific experts.
Unlike dogs and cats, parrots and parakeets are not domesticated animals. Dogs and cats are domesticated pets: they have been kept and bred by humans for thousands of years. Parrots and parakeets are wild birds that are kept in captivity and whose family flies around in nature.
Dogs and cats are predators while parrots and parakeets are prey animals. It is important for owners to realize that humans are actually predators.
Parrots and parakeets are as intelligent as children aged 2-4. Underestimating intelligence is an important reason for behavioral problems.
Without expertise in parrot behavior and handling, it is obvious that many parrots will exhibit screaming, plucking, biting, and demolition behaviors.
    kind regards Jan

      Thanks Jan'

      A very well defined whole'
      And you are 100% right'
Have smaller parrots myself, and I know they are very intelligent'
If some, hear my voice, they know it's me'
Have 1 with me, who comes directly to me, and demands all the attention'
Have them in a very large cage, and they fly freely in it.
      A picture to look at!
The mistake I see is that many birds are in a small cage.
Also with traders, are the birds huddled together'?
That doesn't make you happy, and my stomach turns me.
Have always had an Amazon parrot in the Netherlands.
Here I have the space, and my house/garden has almost become a zoo.
I know', that I can't change the world (unfortunately')
So I try to be the best I can for all my animals I have'
I also teach other people who come to us.
Always enough food and especially fresh water every day'
Pens burn clean, and the birds, fish and dogs look healthy and clean'
My wife always says with a new purchase'
You are lucky that Pieter bought you.
At least you have a good life.
