In Pattaya, nine couples broke the world record for the longest dance marathon on Valentine's Day, the website Channel NewsAisa reports.

The new record will be entered in the Guinness Book of Records. The competition started Friday, with ten couples participating, including a Canadian couple. One couple gave up during the record attempt, but the other nine dance couples stopped after dancing for a total of 35 hours, one minute and one second. That was enough to beat the previous record holders held by Mexico who had lasted exactly 35 hours.

The participants wore pink T-shirts and flowers in their hair in accordance with the competition rules. They had to move their feet continuously and were allowed to dance the waltz, cha cha cha and rumba. When a song was over, the dancers were given the opportunity to stretch their legs for thirty seconds.
