According to the Dutch, Russians are the most annoying holidaymakers

It has already been discussed on Thailandblog: Russian tourists. Then the majority was not very enthusiastic about Boris and Katja. In Thailand they are not chewed by their fellow holidaymakers.

A survey conducted by Zoover among more than 12.000 holidaymakers from 20 European countries shows that this also applies to holidays in Europe.

On vacation, we are even most annoyed by tourists from Russia. No less than 42% of the Europeans surveyed indicate that of all European nationalities they are most disturbed by the Russian on holiday.

Complaints about Russian holidaymakers are reflected in the holiday reviews on Zoover. Commonly used terms are:

  • noisy
  • rude
  • ill-mannered
  • antisocial

The biggest annoyance is forcing at the buffet on one and annoying behavior at the pool on two. Monique says about this on Zoover: ''We were in one of the better hotels in Turkey. I would never return there just because of the huge amount of Russians. I've never seen such rude people in my life."

Top 6 popular holiday countries among Russians:

  1. Turkey
  2. Egypt
  3. Spain
  4. Greece
  5. Cyprus
  6. Tunisia

While you're still most likely to encounter Russians at all-inclusive resorts in Turkey and Egypt, the Spanish costas also have a good chance. Spain is now in the top 3 favorite holiday destinations of the Russians. After the Russians, European holidaymakers are least fond of German (17%) and English (13%) tourists. The English are often mentioned negatively in holiday reviews about Mallorca and the Costa del Sol in Spain. You will mainly find annoying Germans in Side in Turkey and on Mallorca.

The Dutch most annoying on the Costa Brava

Europeans are generally not bothered by the Dutch, only 5 percent indicate that they are sometimes annoyed by Dutch people on holiday. The Dutch themselves are slightly more annoyed by other Dutch people (13%). We meet each other in almost all holiday countries. Especially in Turkey and on the Costa Brava we are annoyed by the fellow countryman. Annoyances often relate to loud and present behaviour.

Belgians and Austrians most friendly holidaymakers

And now a compliment for the Belgian readers of Thailandblog. Zoover's research shows that Belgians are very pleasant tourists. Together with Austrians (0%), Belgians (1%), Scandinavians and Greeks (both 2%), these are the least annoying tourists.

Video Katja wants vodka

The video below was shot at an all-inclusive resort. Russian Katja wants to take a whole bottle of vodka with her instead of having to fetch a glass every time. The staff informs that this is not allowed. Katja does not leave it at that and tells her what she thinks about it.

    Yes, the European Union.
We're going to have a lot of fun with it.
Who now receives the greatest benefits in eastern europe? The common people? forget it.
The adventurers and mafia layers are now going to spread. This applies all over Europe.
    And Asia.
Crime drugs and other perverse things are going to engulf us. Also in our future homeland Thailand. Because they bring money. Lots of money.
As my parents said, the world is going to hell.….n.

    Or am I getting old?

    Regards,
    Dirk

The youth of today, everything used to be better and the world is dying, is indeed old people's talk. Sometimes I do it myself, apparently I'm getting old as well. 😉
I don't mind Russians. You can adjust your trip so that no one bothers you. Just rent a cottage instead of an all-inclusive gluttonous resort.

B and I agree with you Peter, but we can't always look into someone's wallet. Even people with a smaller budget do not have to suffer from others, it is as simple as that.
I agree that you can do something about it yourself.

I totally agree with you Peter. We always rent a holiday home on the Costa del Sol. With this you will not be bothered by Russians, Englishmen or whatever. Enjoy the tranquility with your own family.

I can imagine that you will not be bothered by the Russians in Thailand in your house on the Costa del Sol.

I completely agree with Dirk, before the iron curtain fell (89) there was no crime, there were no drugs, there were no perverse situations in the Netherlands. Totally agree, everything was better back in the day! Dirk, if you take a good look at the matter, you will see that the Dutch are working hardest on the things you accuse the eastern blocker of!

To come back to the topic, the Israelis are still number one when it comes to annoying people, is this anti-Semitic? No!!

Unfortunately, Thailand deliberately campaigned in Russia a few years ago. There would be a lot of money to be made there. Read the Phuket Gazette to get an impression of the result. But how do you get rid of them now?

What a poverty, with those plastic coffee cups. In those all-inclusive zoos you can make such a video of any nationality. Many people who check into such sunny concentration camps do so because they are not smart enough or too lazy to handle foreign money. And then you get this kind of Neanderthals in your garden. From all corners of the world.

Off topic, I hope the moderator will allow this. This is nice Cor: http://goo.gl/gCBuCT
Every year, 1,2 million Dutch people book an all-inclusive holiday, with Turkey, Egypt, Spain and Greece as the most popular destinations. On an all inclusive holiday you can spend a week in a subtropical resort for a few hundred euros. In addition, you can eat and drink as much as you want with your wristband. The Court of Audit (Thursday 1 August, 20.30 pm, Netherlands 3) will travel to Turkey and find out how this is possible for so little money.
Especially for this episode we also fly in our Turkish Inspection Service of Value colleague Ersin Kiris. Among other things, he talks to the chef of a mega resort and he tells him that he prepares 3,5 kilos (!) of food per person per day. And that with a budget of only 5 euros.
Sofie van den Enk discovers that one staff member is available for every three guests and speaks to the director who reveals how you can earn money from people who have already paid for their holiday in advance.
Jaïr Ferwerda drinks a cocktail in the pool bar and learns that the English drink the most and the Russians eat the most.
Stefan Stasse hears from a consumer psychologist that people who go on an all-inclusive holiday are happier than people who arrange a holiday themselves.

I've seen this kind of restless people years ago. The then new rich with very big mouths who could not behave RUSTig anywhere. Pushing ahead at buffets, scooping way too much and after eating a few bites of this, pushing the plate away to a new toweringly scooped plate of desserts etc.
During the day many prostitute Russians, who were collected by their pimp on the beach and put in a taxi by this walRUS in the evening to go to work. Al refreshed himself with the free drink, which was poured and consumed in double portions at the same time.
Averse to decency standards, Russians were already summoned to behave more otherwise they could leave the hotel. I have experienced this in Turkeye and Egypt. Even in the better hotels, all inclusive like the HILTON.
Unhinged people without any respect, behaving like animals and intimidating staff because they were all inclusive. I have stood up for the staff many times, who would otherwise have been thrown out on the street on the advice of those Russians without my intervention. My advice is whether Russian guests are also welcome in the hotel.
Now live in Thailand and see... The Russians mentioned above and also the Russian mafia have often moved their work area to the big places. I'm glad they aren't my neighbors (yet).

If you mean Hilton Long Beach in Hurghada, that really isn't a 'better' hotel. That hotel is unworthy of the Hilton name. It is indeed full of Russians who like to pee and defecate in the garden (self seen). The problem is also in the Netherlands. Such worthless hotels are sold in the Netherlands as 5 star deluxe, while they are actually 2 or 3 star hotels that suddenly have the Hilton logo due to a takeover, but the quality has really not improved after the takeover.

Then rather check first on TripAdvisor whether there are complaints about Russians and then do not book.

In Thailand, there are slightly fewer than in Turkey or Egypt, but they are still too many. It's those pissed-off looking figures (but yes, would you look happy if you were Russian?) who don't make the holiday atmosphere any better with their whorishly dressed 'ladies' (who usually follow at 5 meters). Fortunately no All Inclusive for me, so no problems with pushing.

So no Russians for me either, Oh, Oh Cherso, Sjonnies and more of those people on my vacation please!

  6. ruud says up

Yes, I am also annoyed by the Russians, but I would like to state first that I can also be annoyed by others (including the Dutch). Maybe someone is annoyed with me.
It is often also give and take and not have a short fuse.

If I'm on a beach in a place where there are a lot of Russians who are noisy etc. then I can move, but you feel bad when you have to leave because others ruin things so much. On my own beach, where I had been coming for years, I was right in the middle of it during the holidays of the Russians. Then I left and never came back. They stopped looking at me there when the Soviets came.
I must say that last year I had a lot less trouble. I also met some quieter people on the beach.

But have you ever been to Spain, where a group of English people are also in your hotel, then you can also shake it.

Back to the Russians for a moment. What irritates me most are the taxi vans that just leave you behind because there are a bunch of Russians 100 meters further on. (poen poen poen) I also find it bad that they treat the staff and the sellers on the beach so terribly, as if they are inferior people. . Everything has to be unpacked and then they say “fuck off” (in Russian) and have a big mouth if they don't leave quickly.

I feel bad for the saleswomen in stores. I have once entered a changing room where there was a “pile” of clothes, all tried on and stepped out straight away. The lady walked away without saying anything. I think those are the most annoying things. I often think it's worse for the Thai than for myself.

And then in the restaurants. Loading up the plates and being loud and sitting at the table in your bare torso and shorts that are too small, right next to you if you're unlucky.
Too bad, because I'm not going back there once the armada of Russians have arrived.

In Zoutelande (Walcheren – Netherlands) on the beach and campsite ??? , the first Russians were also sighted this summer. Maybe the quartermasters. Who knows what's next???(camping Russians??)

We have a hotel with at most one married couple. We have restaurants where not many go, and we have a lovely stretch of beach where there is plenty to do because there are not many. So you can do “something” about it yourself.

    Ruud.

Well, I can be as annoyed by many Dutchmen as I am by Russians.
Have you ever been to Hersonissos, Salou, El Arenal, also 1 big party under the motto Dutch coziness nice for us yes, but how the locals and other tourists think about that coziness….

I think Russians are the least bad of those new rich, they apparently have not informed among Thailand goers.
I find Chinese and Indians even worse than Russians and Arabs are at least on the same level.
I was lucky enough to share the hotel and hallway with that population (Arabs) group in Phuket having a big party.
The decent Russians in that hotel stood up to that, because I didn't have any noise nuisance.
And they were not screaming at the pool with a water pipe and their own loud French rap music.
In fact, those Russians were still annoyed by their behavior.
But who are we poor Europeans to complain about this.
Those who steal their money here ( corporate predators or grabbers ) need not worry anymore.
And Jan Modaal is just allowed to survive a bit to pay the bill and that gap is only getting bigger.
And then they wonder in The Hague why there is more and more crime 🙂

The Russians are most noticeable when mess is made. I hope they stay far away from Huahin and surroundings.
In my life as a flight attendant I have had the most problems with Russians. On a flight to Miami, after passengers disembarked, we found empty vodka and whiskey bottles under a mess of paper and rubbish.
On another flight, a female colleague of mine was yelled at because the man in question was kindly requested to take his seat. This after he had been in the way for a long time in the galley.
And on a Frankfurt – Bangkok – Manila flight, we had a Russian passenger disembarked in handcuffs by Thai police because he was drunk and grabbed a female colleague from behind. How stupid he looked when his journey ended a few hours earlier.
There have been plenty of other flights, but these have stuck with me.
I really hope that these people stay far from Hua Hin or Pranburi.

Disregarding whether the Russians are annoying or not, however, the photo of the man in his miniscule swimming trunks and potbelly with the article more or less suggests that the man is a Russian, were it not for the fact that many Dutch people also show the same external characteristics for the sake of fairness...

Just take a look at the various bars in Pattaya where many compatriots hang out. 😉

  10. Tucker says up

It's just hut people everywhere they go, they ruin it for the others, they speak little or no English. Especially when eating at the buffet, you don't know what you are experiencing and you just start bragging and just stop eating. They are also making a mess of things in Pattya. We Dutch can also do something about it, just go for a walk in Antwerp, but I don't know what these hut people mean by a holiday, which is completely disrespectful to the Thai, no, this will cost Thailand holidaymakers in the long run, which is a pity, but that's the way it is.' The people who just want to enjoy their hard-earned vacation will not come back.

My wife works as a spa manager in a Resort here on Koh Samui. I asked her which people the staff dislike the most. In all three resorts where she worked the same opinion, the Russians with star number 1, staff are treated like dirt. We live here ourselves in a condo for sale, some of which are rented out. If there are any problems, it is with Russians. Swimming in the middle of the night (swimming pool closed after eight o'clock), at night lalling and bragging around the pool, while this is not allowed after 9 o'clock. The guard who says something about it can get an index finger and a big mouth. Up to police evictions, (doors smashed, furniture to pieces, windows smashed. An advantage the rest of the holiday in a Thai cell.

That they throw those Russians out, take away their passports and remove them from Thailand, such crap doesn't belong there, the Thai bar staff had to immediately call the Thai police and throw that couple out of the hotel, they also ruin other holidaymakers' leave, Even during meals they pretend that the entire restaurant is theirs, that they spend their money in Russia, but they don't talk much there.
