Unique accommodations during the holidays set the tone for 2019

Research shows that one in five (20%) Dutch travelers will want to stay in such unique accommodation types in 2019. Booking.com's research also shows why travelers are inspired to go off the beaten track and choose alternative accommodation for their next holiday. Can you already see yourself staying in a boat or igloo?

With vacations offering the chance to try something new, it's no surprise that more than a third (37%) of global travelers plan to stay in a unique accommodation such as a castle or tree house at least once in 2019. By booking a home-like accommodation, travelers can explore the surroundings of their destination well and still experience a feeling of home away from home.

In addition to the fact that you can experience and discover your destination in a different way with alternative accommodation types, they can also be cheaper than you are used to; nearly half (45%) of global travelers say they get the most bang for their buck with home-style accommodation.
