A family in Bangkok's Sam Sen was woken up by a huge bang on Thursday night. A Swede had fallen through the roof of the two-story house. The man ended up on a sofa in an unused bedroom on the first floor and did not survive.

Police believe the man, a Swede, fell (or jumped) from an adjacent eight-story flat. He was wearing only underpants.

The family first went to look on the ground floor. There blood dripped through the ceiling, after which they went up a floor and found the man.

A security guard at the flat has stated that he knew the man superficially. He lived alone and often greeted him in Thai. In his room on the seventh floor, the police found a letter and medicines used in the treatment of mental disorders. No traces of violence were found.

Again, of course, and easy for the police, a case that will be immediately filed as a suicide. Unbelievable how many "farang" commit "suicide" in Thailand. There will be some where this is true, but I highly doubt it for the majority. No country where so many people fall from balconies or meet their end in strange ways.

Tragic that this happens again, yet another victim who dies by jump. Although in general it is immediately said that it is not a self-chosen act, I believe that many people with psychological and / or emotional problems have moved to Thailand to be able to deal with their psychiatry. But that does not work. Thailand cannot be regarded as a therapeutic community. On the contrary: you always carry your problems with you and they do not disappear under the sun. In addition, you should not expect Thai people to just take care of you or guide you. Thailand would advise long-term residents to ask for a medical certificate with their application for a residence permit.

If Thailand would ask for a medical certificate, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany should do the same. Just follow the daily news when you see what people who don't belong here are all doing. And unfortunately - I speak from experience - also among the Thais some downright psychopaths stay here. I certainly agree with what you write about the shelter in Thailand. But what if you replace the word “just like that” with “against payment”? Think that the idea about guidance will be very different .

What more do you wish? Now you ask that all farang can provide a medical certificate, is the Thai government not trying hard enough to be able to stay here, otherwise such a certificate does not give any guarantee, or do you think that all those jumpers could not provide a certificate?
I am sure that the farang do not consider Thailand as a therapeutic community, but investments that often go wrong here could rather be a cause or blackmail by criminals who have incited many a foreigner to jump, a bad lady can also be the cause!
Do you really think that a medical certificate is the solution? Would we actually invest , not be extorted anymore ? Choose the right lady?

Do you think that someone whose native language is Dutch can be helped by a psychologist/psychiatrist who speaks Thai or bad English? Can you penetrate someone's head if both people don't fully understand the language being used?

    I have my doubts.
