A bit stupid, Máxima's winged statement, is an understatement compared to the behavior of workers, who thought they could defuse a bomb from World War II with a blowtorch.

The explosion that followed yesterday killed seven people and injured ten others. The scrap yard in Bangh Khen (Bangkok) where this happened was razed to the ground. The explosion left a crater three meters deep and eight meters in diameter. Nearby houses in Soi Lat Plakhao 72 Ram Intra Road also sustained damage.

The bomb had a length of 1 meter, a diameter of 30 cm and a weight of approximately 225 kilos. He had been brought to the company by construction workers. The message does not say where the bomb came from. The bomb exploded when workers [company employees?] went to work with a torch.

An Air Force spokesman says that many bombs were dropped on Bangkok and Thon Buri in 1944. A bomb with a length of 1,19 meters and a diameter of 30 cm was found during the construction of the Red Line (metro Bang Sue-Rangsit). However, it was judiciously defused by the Air Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service in Lop Buri.

Bangkok Municipal Police are considering holding the company's owner liable and prosecuting for negligence resulting in death and injury. The municipality of Bangkok says that the business was not licensed, but had been in operation for 10 years.

Of course you fall out of your chair when you read that you are going to attack a Bomb with a cutting torch.
No one can be that stupid. Not even the Thai.
It appears that the bomb has indeed been dismantled.
And here comes the error with the Explosives on reamers who took the wrong part
And that testifies to a stupidity that I see the Thai for
Normally you would laugh your ass off when you hear something like that.
But because there have been deaths. Is crying better in place?

@ kees 1 What is the source of your information, which differs significantly from what BP writes?

        Hey Dick
I thought it was such an incredible story.
That I asked Pon. he was talking about it yesterday. Her information is generally very good. I'll ask her later Dick When she gets home
I'll let you know. I just hope I didn't write something stupid

        Greetings Kees

Together with Pon, I tried to find out where that story was
came from the exchange. It keeps popping up though.
But I can't get it officially confirmed. Responded too quickly. Excuse me Dick.

It remains an incredible story for me. Demolition workers are often offered the strangest monkey rats. And really don't just put the cutting torch on everywhere.
Never mind a Bomb. 200 kg of iron brings about 1500 Bht. on Does a Thai there risk his life? I'm sorry I must be stubborn. But that doesn't work for me

@ kees 1 I also have my doubts whether the Bangkok Post version is truthful. Nevertheless, people sometimes do stupid things. Perhaps there will be another correction in BP one day; who knows. But for now we have to make do with this.

I heard this story from my husband two days ago.
I didn't understand it at first.
She told me that there were many deaths and extensive damage to houses in the area, again in a bomb attack in Bangkok.
I then thought it is getting worse in Bangkok .
Later and reading the news , it dawned on me that this had nothing to do with the political turmoil in Thailand .
After following the news on TV and also on our weblog, everything is only now becoming clear to me.
The only question that remains is how stupid can you be to use a cutting torch to cut through something that may still contain explosive material ???
Even worse, how can such material or parts of it just end up in a, say, ordinary scrap yard.
I think , this is only possible in Thailand .
When are they going to dismantle an old never used nuclear bomb here , in the same way .
Sorry , a bit of gallows humor .
But it is deeply and deeply sad how things are arranged here with the safety of anything.
Not just bus and parachute accidents.
    Songkran is coming.
Will the number of fatal traffic accidents again this year break the old record of last year and the year before .
    I'm afraid so .

    Jan Beute.
