On Saturday evening on the island of Koh Kut (Trat), two French women aged 28 and 57 were raped and severely assaulted by five Cambodian fishermen. Two men who tried to help the women were seriously injured. After first aid on the island, the victims were taken to the hospital of Muang (Trat).

The drunken fishermen from Cambodia were swimming from their boat, which was anchored off the coast, to the beach to buy more booze on the mainland. There they found the victims, two French men and women, who were looking for a place to eat near their resort. They were accosted by the fishermen, who overpowered and raped the women. The two men who tried to help the women were attacked with a butcher knife. One was seriously injured. The other man ran back to their resort to raise the alarm and get help. The attackers fled after a group of resort employees and residents went back with the French man to help. The three victims were found in critical condition.

A joint team of the police, navy and 50 residents latched the area around the attack site. Three suspects (see photo) could soon be arrested on Koh Kut, the two others at the Hat Lek border post. The skipper and other crew of the fishing boat are questioned.

The hospital issued a press statement on the condition of the victims today.

Sad to read this again. Weak minds and sacrificed too much to alcohol, sometimes you get this sick behavior. Fortunately, a number of them have been arrested red-handed and there is now no dispute whether these are people from Cambodia or the Thai themselves, who are guilty of the assault or rape and assault.

On this day I was with wife and children on this island on ao prhao. I had counted about 20 fishing boats off the coast. It seems like quite a long swim, but from the boats you get into shallow water very quickly. We were at a resort close to the other resort which was called to help. What struck us was that in a short time a lot of police and soldiers were hopping around. Still no clue what was going on.
Normally there is hardly any crime on Koh Kah. It is a wonderful island, especially for relaxing. There is no mass tourism yet. Worth a visit.
unfortunately koh kood can also remove the sign upon entry that says: koh kood is free of crime.
