Police in Lop Buri have arrested a woman involved in a network that provided fake license plates. She was arrested Friday in her husband's garage.

Police seized four cars and a motorcycle with plates from Uttaradit, Bangkok and Lop Buri and two without plates. The vehicles did not have a serial number on their chassis. The police also found equipment to make license plates and documents with the logo of the Land Transport Department. The fake number plates and accompanying documents were sold for 20.000 baht.

Chief Commissioner Sanit says that assembled vehicles are not registered, they almost always drive around with a false license plate. He advises buyers of second-hand cars to also check the chassis number.

The garage belongs to the husband of the arrested woman, but he is a fugitive. Investigations have shown that he transferred license plates from scrap cars to classic vehicles in order to avoid the tax.

  1. Pieter says up

At my place they demolished the license plate in the shopping center (parking garage) in Hua-hin, the car was then registered in Phuket, and in HH the license plate registration office did not want to cooperate, I had to go to Phuket. Got a new plate via via anyway at cost price.
Since then, the plates have been cemented and the screw heads have been drilled out. Handsome guy, or woman who still gets the plates off in a decent way.
    But that's how you learn.
