Within an hour of the start of the auction of 'lucky' telephone numbers in Bangkok, they had already been sold. The top piece, the number 096-999-9999, had a starting price of three million baht, but was even sold for 4,5 million baht.

In a superstitious country like Thailand, lucky numbers play a major role. The number 9 is such a lucky number. Both license plates and telephone numbers with many nines are therefore sold for a lot of money.

The auction of telephone numbers was organized by the Office of the National Radio and Television Commission (NBTC). A total of 95 numbers were sold by auction. According to the description, they are “beautiful and auspicious figures that will make the possessor rich”.

The NBTC wanted to earn at least 80 million baht from the sale of these telephone numbers.

According to the famous fortune teller Kongthanatkul Setthisathaporn, the numbers sold were 'promising'.

Yes, that number 9 will certainly be for the Thai as far as luck is concerned.
It has never worked for me while my BSN number starts with a 0 and then 3 times 9, but I always had to pay via those numbers.

At least for the buyers of those numbers, don't go to the Netherlands I'll say but otherwise good luck with it.

I'm having a bit of trouble with the numbers thing in Thailand. Luck, misfortune, the course of life engraved in numbers.

Recently I was waiting my turn in a Transport Office. There was a wall full of combinations of number plates. These turned out to be the coveted license plate numbers for which extra money is put on the table.

There was 5555 (HaHaHaHa) in between. For the jokers in traffic or to laugh at the many RTP checkpoints. Land of Smile 🙂
