The municipality of Bangkok (BMA) urgently advises the residents of the city to have an x-ray of their lungs made annually. In this way, the aim is to prevent the spread of tuberculosis (TB). Thailand is one of fourteen countries where TB is relatively common.

Deputy Governor Thaweesak said this yesterday at a meeting to mark World TB Day. Last year, 11.789 patients were diagnosed with TB in Bangkok. Of these, 79,54 percent are completely cured. The WHO has set a target of 85 percent.

The infectious disease tuberculosis is caused by a bacteria (Mycobacterium tuberculosis). The most common form is pulmonary tuberculosis, but the bacteria can also cause serious illness in other parts of the body. If not treated properly, the disease can be fatal. TB can occur for a long time without complaints, while abnormalities can be seen on a lung x-ray, for example. In pulmonary tuberculosis, the most common complaints are coughing and coughing up blood, fever, fatigue, weight loss and night sweats.

It is better to ensure that air pollution decreases sharply and that the polluters are presented with the bill. In this way it remains a stinking city, just like Chiang Mai and many other cities.

Unnecessary x-rays seems unwise to me. For example, Thais must have a lung photo taken at the GGD after immigration. Some GGDs call the foreigner back several times (an annual photo for up to 3 years?). That is unnecessary, not mandatory and (if you choose a GGD where it is not free) also a waste of money. I would never have an X-ray taken myself unless it was mandatory or I would have symptoms of TB. Whether it is Thailand or the Netherlands. You can also check too much and too often.

That seems sensible to me, why not, a little preventive thinking and action can do no harm.

That TB will probably not come from the farang either, but you can go through TB without it
    you know.

Even with the influx of these foreign nationals into Europe, more TB has been observed over time
    europeans.

Also, if you live in a tropical country, be careful what you do.
Our immune system is running at full speed here hahahaa

Prevention is better than cure, but prevention is not always obvious

For this reason I have to go to the Netherlands for a seagoing inspection, every 2 years and a long photo must be taken, because I live in a high-risk country.
