The sponsorship of the foreign trip of the Max Percussion Theater to the Netherlands is getting another tail, because now the school director has been transferred to an inactive post - put on hold, say. A committee will investigate the way in which the money was extracted from the chairman of the Ichitan Group and the role that the director played in this.

Sajja Srijaroen, director of the Secondary Educational Service Area 2 office, says he ordered the transfer because of the "increasing confusion within the school". "If he continues to work there, the problems will only get worse."

Sajja will soon go the fact finding Invite the school committee, the association of parents, teachers and students to make a statement. When it turns out that the director has made a mistake, he is subject to a disciplinary investigation.

The case is all about the participation of the school band, a percussion group, at the Color Guard in Eindhoven last month. The group was the only competitor in the Marching World Class category, which was specially created. An audio clip later surfaced on YouTube showing a conversation of three people, including the school principal. The sound recording led to a storm of criticism of the way in which the band had asked the soft drink giant 3,1 million baht.

On April 7, the band members went deep into dust during a press conference organized by the alumni association of the school (photo). They apologized for the "inappropriate" way they had raised funds for the trip.

Bert Gringhuis has reconstructed the course of events in the posting The story of Max Percussion Theatre. The band would have enforced the sponsorship with a sitdown action in the sports hall of the soda man. That's not neat, of course, but whether that should be a reason to hang Barbertje (read: the school director) is a question for me that I classify under the secrets of Thailand, because I don't understand it.

I honestly don't get it either, it looks more like a village riot,
I have tried to find something about this incident in the Dutch press, but not a word.
The Eindhovens Dagblad also reports nothing at all about this competition.

Something completely different in this case is that 3.1 million Baht. It would be interesting to know exactly how that was spent (bow in TH or NL?)

I actually thought 3,1 million baht was cheap. In the video I quickly count about 20 players and supervisors.
So 20 plane tickets and train to Eindhoven; hotel for a day or four a raison of 80 Euro per night. Food and drink, say 20 Euro per day. I can't get out with 3,1 million Baht.

@ Chris @ Gringo Chris: Scrap the hotel fees. During this type of trip, visitors are accommodated with host parents or in a hall. Just make a new calculation. Train or rented bus to Eindhoven.
Gringo: I have alerted the editors of the Eindhovens Dagblad to the publications on Thailandblog. Will they not have done anything with it? I know my Pappenheimers.
