During an interview in Bangkok, renegade general and adviser to the Red Shirts, Seh Daeng, was shot in the head.

The shocking images show a badly injured Seh Daeng lying on the ground in his camouflage suit. Guards and red shirts try to move him and shout for help. Tom Fuller of the International Herald Tribune told CNN he was interviewing Seh at the time of the shooting.

Witnesses said the shot appeared to be coming from a rooftop in a corner of Bangkok's Lumpini Park, where there were many protesters at the time.

It is not clear whether the military or the government of Thailand ordered to shoot Seh Deang. However, the government has previously announced that it would shoot at what they call armed terrorists.

The mutinous Thai general Seh, whose full name is Major General Kattiya Sawasdipolis, is known as the "most radical, Redshirt leader," according to CNN's Dan Rivers. Many more moderate Redshirt leaders who favored a peaceful protest distanced themselves from Seh's ideas.

Several explosions and shots were heard this evening near the protest sites in Bangkok. According to witnesses, the explosions came just after Seh was shot. It is not clear whether the explosion, in retaliation for the shooting, was caused by the Red Shirts
