Bangkok traffic police officers who score less than 80 percent on a new traffic exam will no longer be allowed to issue tickets and will be given desk duties.

Deputy Commissioner Sukhun said yesterday that officers should be expected to be sufficiently familiar with the traffic rules and laws they are required to enforce. They must be able to identify violations and explain to offenders what they have done wrong. Quarrels often arise between the traffic police and those they stop because they cannot do this.

Thousands of multiple choice questions have been prepared. Each unit gets a different set of 100 questions. The questions are about the Land Traffic Act, Land Transport Act, Vehicle Act and new traffic laws. About XNUMX traffic police officers will take their exams early next month. An agent who fails the test will be given a second chance. When officers fail again, they can be transferred.

Then they just pick some more Farang off the street to give verbals because they don't struggle. In Chiang mai they just make a sport out of it because it brings in good money.
And I don't assume whether traffic safety improves with it, if you as a police officer do not know the traffic rules well, what should you think of the ordinary citizen.
    It remains hopeless here.

Good thing this is being addressed. There is apparently a need to do this and there is no doubt that you must have sufficient (ready) knowledge to properly perform your work. Now it's time to get the enforcement model right, because quite a few things are allowed that are not acceptable. I hope that the attempted policy (as it is now) will not remain what it is, because only striving without success will not benefit road safety.

Then there will be less writing, but the hand-cash for your own pocket will increase again.

That is good news for the Thai people.
Because I fear that many will fail and that in turn means less chance of or no more fines at all.

Pfff… Then they do it in black…

Transfer… pfff… agents work in duos or groups… so it is enough that 1 has passed to be allowed to issue fines…

It is not because an officer succeeds that he will always give the correct reason for the ticket. Errors remain possible.

My decision? Everything remains as it is. A Thai will always find a solution that suits him…

That's punishment. They can even determine with the naked eye that you drove too fast an hour before. How much too quickly is not added … .. but that it costs 200 Baht. With a few jokes, 100 Baht is also sufficient.
On the other hand…..corruption is a knife that cuts both ways…..it is sometimes difficult but also sometimes useful.

Traffic accident. Boy of 12 killed on scooter, no helmet, no insurance and no driver's license.
after 3 days of cremation, 70 fellow students arrive.
Of which 38 do not wear a helmet and are under 15 years old.
What do parents do? What are the police doing?
Ridiculous thing. they never learn. If tomorrow everyone in Thailand has to wear a helmet, the economy will immediately come to a standstill. No one comes to work or school anymore.
