Action leader Suthep Thaugsuban throws in the towel when it fails to send the government home in the coming week. Even if he succeeds, he will turn himself in to the police on May 27.

Suthep made the announcement on Saturday, after seven months of campaigning, at a meeting with supporters at Government House (pictured). The Senate's decision not to name a specific timeline for appointing an interim prime minister drove him to his decision.

“Unlike the Senate, the people have long fought; they deserve to know when they are successful. It is therefore necessary for the PDRC to establish a clear timetable. The last mission starts on Sunday and ends on May 26.'

The newspaper notes that Suthep has already announced a 'final battle' ten times since the start of the actions at the end of October last year.

On Sunday, the PDRC will meet representatives of government unions to share tasks. In the afternoon, the same thing happens with retired civil servants and governors, who are sympathetic to the cause. Those plans will be implemented on Monday, but Suthep has not disclosed details.

In the meantime, PDRC supporters are going to 'visit' ministers; they demand that they resign because they hinder the progress of the country. Civil servants will be asked to stop following orders from their minister.

A meeting is scheduled for Thursday with heads of government departments, permanent secretaries (the most senior civil servant of a ministry) and the Attorney General.

Friday to Sunday is reserved for a 'great uprising among the people nationwide'.

Tuesday, May 27 is D-Day. When millions of people don't show up, Suthep turns himself in. “We've walked this path long enough. This movie has been running for a long time.'

UDD

UDD chairman Jatuporn Prompan has summoned his supporters for a major rally from Tuesday to May 27. That date coincides with the 'final battle' of the anti-government movement.

UDD Secretary General Nattawut Saikuar promises the rally will end when the political situation returns to normal on May 27. But he threatens a new campaign if the Senate appoints an interim prime minister and government to replace the current outgoing cabinet.

The UDD was originally supposed to hold a major rally on Utthayan Road in western Bangkok this weekend and break it up on Monday.

Senate

The Senate decided on Friday to start negotiations with all parties in the political debate. Suthep had demanded that the Senate appoint an interim prime minister no later than that day.

The country is now governed by a caretaker cabinet of 25 ministers with an acting prime minister, who takes care of current affairs. Prime Minister Yingluck and nine ministers were previously impeached by the Constitutional Court.

    Nice! Let's all mark the place for another week, don't say or do crazy things, keep the ringleaders and hotheads in check, go home together on May 27, hold elections, agree on reforms, and meet each other again with fresh courage in the hair..., excuse me, against it!

    “One more final battle against government; Suthep surrenders”
    Reminds me of those Unox commercials. you may not know in Thailand.

    So: We have already seen various commercials with unox. This one comes: Dad comes home from work and asks:
    "And? What are we eating today?"
    To which the children reply: "What do you think, Dad?"

    Or to this one:
    University professor explains:
    Multiplying a positive and a negative number results both ways in a negative result.
    multiplying negative and negative however results in positive.
    but there is no way that using two positives results in a negative answer.
    At which a student answers: “Yeah, right”.

    It's time they lock up this demagogue Sutthep or send them out of the country.
    Turn Thailand upside down because it wants to be important.
    His intentions are inconsistent with his statements.
    You can't eradicate corruption in a few weeks or months. That will be a gradual process
    that takes years.
    Many parties are willing to discuss this. Mr Sutthep does not want to pass his own way by appointing an unelected government.
    Fortunately, his following is dwindling.
    Don't forget that Mr. Sutthep has already done several very bad things that resulted in many deaths.
    You don't fight political conflicts on the street, but at the table.

    From the beginning of Suthep's actions, I - like other many Thais and many Thai companies and their organizations - have supported the actions: resignation of the Yingluck government and reforms on a large number of points. From the beginning, I also had little trouble with Suthep's nonviolent actions. From the beginning I have made no secret of the fact that Suthep, with his past, is not the best and not the most credible leader of a movement that wants reforms. I believe that the people have an obligation to revolt when the government is corrupt and abuses the mandate it has received in elections. I am therefore not sensitive to the arguments of the red shirts that the government is not to blame and that it should remain in place because it came to power through elections. In my past, I have also argued in the Netherlands against De Brauw's 1000-guilder law, the student financing system with loans from State Secretary Klein and the stationing of nuclear weapons at Volkel air base. All decisions made by democratically elected governments.
    I learned a few things from all those actions:
    a. you must clearly formulate your goals, ask the utmost possible and do not change the goals during the actions;
    b. you need to thoroughly analyze the situation you are against: what is happening and what are the reasons? Analyzes must be discussed on paper and in public, especially with the (alleged) opponent;
    c. You have to realize that the demands of both sides have to be negotiated;
    d. At the end of the story, the party favored by PUBLIC OPINION is making more money than the other party.

    Here are the reasons why Suthep has already lost the final battle 11 times and why he will not win the last one either. He better report to the police tomorrow so that the real reforms this country needs are not identified with Suthep and the PDRC.

    The sooner that man turns himself in, the better it will be for the country because investments are no longer made and tourists stay away. The beer magnate has lost forever. He has also shown how corrupt he is on TV. By always accepting a lot of money. A good example of fighting corruption. So not. It is incomprehensible that the Thai population does not see this.

    This clown Suthep has talked so often about final action and that he wants to turn himself in, that it just becomes ridiculous. But it says a lot more about the quality of the Thai and his understanding of democracy that has not even reached the stage of puberty. This outsider clown Suthep has been keeping the country in a grip for months, which only means accelerated decline. I hope that the Thai justice system can later remember the names that have brought this country further to the brink of the abyss every day.

    Oh about that umpteenth report to the police by Suthep, we all know that 3 hours later (or less) he is back on the street under surety and that processes of prominent rich are only conducted after years and certainly then that in the event of a new king, amnesties are usually granted …..!
    Only with legal coups can justice be brought quickly here, it's laughable to see government agencies persecuting each other...how on earth can you govern such a country...but yes, “The one-liner Amazing Thailand” for sure?
