Many Thais believe the country's economy is in a worse shape in the first quarter of 2018 and see little hope in the government's economic stimulus policies, according to a survey by the National Institute of Development Administration (Nida Poll).

The survey was conducted on April 9 and 10 and surveyed 1.250 people nationwide over the first quarter of this year.

Nearly 46% of the respondents were negative and think the economy is in worse shape. More than 37% think everything is still the same and 16% think it has gotten better. The rest had no idea.

The majority of respondents do not expect improvements in income (52,08%), debt reduction (62,32%), cost of living (47,76%), liquidity (44,80%) and basic infrastructure (47,80%) ). They also do not think that the Thai government will be able to improve the situation.

A majority do expect the Thai economy to do better after the elections, because an elected government will gain more confidence from foreign investors.
